A Central Illinois state legislator has filed a bill in the House of Representatives that would allow the issue of concealed carry of a firearm to be decided on a county-by-county basis. Rep. Bill Mitchell, a Republican from Decatur, filed House Bill 3794, on June 22. The bill is based on a statewide measure that is stalled in the House.

Cool, but it still doesn’t give me much hope, seeing as I live in the Heart of Darkness (Cook County).
It sorta sounds like a nightmare to me—every time you cross a county line, your situation could change...........

Small steps, small steps. A few years after implementation, push for a “Unified” statewide CCW - CCW being a given by that time.
Really, a state that doesn't allow self defense or the right to appear in court to defend yourself really isn't a state ~ it's a bandit's hideout.

I lived in North Chicago for six years. If State’s Attorney Michael Waller doesn’t run for re-election, in 2012, whom should replace him? I hope that Rod Drobinski will win. He’s a conservative who was an assistant state’s attorney, and he was the chairman of the Waukegan Township Republican Organization. He’s pro-gun rights and pro-life.
