i guess that means that God likes revenge too. cool.
Not saying he "likes" it, but he is the only one that can divvy out true vengeance because he alone knows the heart and motive of every act. Vengeance BELONGS to God, is what that verse means, and we do not have the right to usurp what rightfully belongs to him.
Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the urge to get our revenge against those who wrong us, but only God is the one to whom it belongs. We err when we take it upon ourselves to do it for him. And usually, we find that when we do get back at someone for something, the pleasure is fleeting and we end up degrading ourselves in the meantime. Jesus was right when he said that we should answer hate with love because that is the ONLY thing that defuses bad situations and we prove what we are made of by how we react to insults. Beck did the right thing.
Besides, wouldn't you rather let God get the revenge, since only he knows where it will hurt the most? ;o)
