I am a firm supporter of the right to keep guns and ammunition at home, one’s place of business and maybe in one’s vehicle. I do not support carrying a gun on one’s person as one goes about their daily affairs. If many people start carrying guns on a daily basis eventually we will be back to Dodge City 1870. It might be wise to remember that even “wild west towns” restricted the carrying of fire arms.

Ummm.. You better look around you.
Daily ‘carry’ has been going on for a very long time.
Don’t see no ‘Dodge City 1870’ sprouting up either, pardner!
Well, considering 48 states currently have legal concealed carry (with WI becoming the 49th), I'd expect you to be able to cite rigorous studies showing how increased concealed carry leads to increased gun violence before you spout Brady-Center type jibberish on FR.
Until then, get lost.
I haven’t left my home in years without my gun holstered to my side. That’s not unusual in Texas, where I live.
Not once have a seen a wild west shootout. Not once have I even seen someonce pull a gun on anyone else.
An armed society is a polite society—maybe you never heard that truism.
If many people start carrying guns on a daily basis eventually we will be back to Dodge City 1870.
Just in case you missed it, Chicago 2011 is worse than Dodge City 1870.
Cheers,
OLA
Dodge City 1870 had zero crime.
That's what was said when Florida first made it easy to carry, and it's been said about every state that followed.
It has not happened.
The chances of your house burning down due to a grease fire in the kitchen are probably pretty slim too, but it’s still a good idea to keep a fire extiguisher handy.
At the risk of hurting your "feelings" ... how can I say this nicely .... you're either uninformed, ignorant, or both.
** I do not support carrying a gun on ones person as one goes about their daily affairs.**
If I see you getting robbed, raped or worse, I then promise NOT to protect you with MY GUN.
An armed Society is a Polite Society..
...which will most likely be the time you'll wish you had carried one on your person.
“If many people start carrying guns on a daily basis eventually we will be back to Dodge City 1870.”
Hogwash. There are many states (I think perhaps even the majority) where people already carry guns every day, and these “wild west” fears have always failed to materialize.
Even if you were correct, I would gladly trade Dodge City 1870 for what we have today:
“According to historian Robert Dystra, Dodge City was rather mild in regard to homicides. During the “wild west” years (1870-1885), the average number of homicides per cattle town was about 1.5 per year. For six of those years, Dodge City had zero homicides, and reached a peak of only five in 1878 (from a May 17, 1991 Gun Week review of Dykstra, R., The Cattle Towns, 1968).”

Sad that you can't trust your fellow law abiding citizens.
Sad you can't embace the rights your forefathers gave you.
FYI The Earps were GUN GRABBERS.
