(CNN) -- Prosecutors dismissed a charge Monday against a community activist who was arrested while filming a police encounter with her iPod camera because she was concerned it was initiated by racial profiling.
"I'm feeling vindicated, I'm feeling energetic" Emily Good, 28, of Rochester, New York, said of the decision to have the charge dropped. Good had been charged with obstruction of governmental administration when she began videotaping the interrogation of a black man by three white officers in front of her house on May 12, she said.
"Based upon the evidence, we could not make out the elements of the crime charged," Monroe County First Assistant District Attorney Sandra Doorley said.
Good said she intends to file a civil suit.

Even the DA said this was a bad arrest and immediately dropped all charges... what part of that do you not understand?
Your posts are really disturbing.
You are actually stating your claim that citizens should be subject to arrest for embarrassing the police by videotaping thier actions.
Absolutely insane.
>> “This is lawyer speak for...what?” <<
.
“There was no crime committed.”
About twenty years ago a friend of mine travelled with his wife in the South. He said that they were treated rudely because of their inter-racial marriage.
I'm glad that I'm colorblind enough that it took a minute for me to realize that his wife is Chinese and that this was a problem to them in their travels.
If I ever have an opportunity to relocate, such a thing will play an important part in my decision making.
“trying to videotape police in order to trap and embarrass the police with bogus claims of racial profiling. “
None of which is a jailable offense, you ignorant ass. But if you are a cop, I hope you are stupid enough to get caught making such an arrest.
(What am I saying? Obviously you ARE that stupid).
I don’t think Dennis is insane, but I do think he will go to the same lengths to defend cops, that the media will go to defend Obama...
No need to watch the video again. I wasn’t speaking to the appropriateness of the arrest, but to the initial appropriateness of requesting that she move away from where the police action occurred. It should also be noted that this woman argued with the officer, which is a no-win situation regardless of the appropriateness of the officer’s request/demand. I would further like to know what the woman’s comments to the officer were that is not in the video. We, who are commenting based on incomplete information, are at a disadvantage in making a determination of the appropriatness of the officer’s actions. Could there have been comments made by this woman prior to the video being started that could provide an explaination for his actions/reactions toward her? We don’t know, and won’t know. Perhaps there is justification for his comment of not feeling safe with her, and her entourage, behind him. Not all the details are available. I’ll reserve judgement based on the incompleteness of the evidence, thank you.
It means the prosecuter decided he couldn’t win the case.
Gotta keep them conviction rates up for re-election of the DA
Seriously-they saw they had a turd dropped in their lap from both a PR standpoint and the likliehood of a conviction and dropped the steamer rather than get it smeared all over them.
Ya can’t polish a turd and spray paint only covers the smell for so long
“Private property isn’t an island of anarchy. “
And videotaping silently from your front lawn is not “anarchy.” Unless you are using the “jackboot thug” definition of anarchy, which you are.
I was wondering when you would show up here.
Just to let everyone know, you tirelessly defended the SWAT team who murdered the soldier in cold blood.
>> “She says she might sue over First Amendment rights” <<
.
Wrong reason.
She should sue for false arrest, and false imprisonment.
The cop should be fired, and have to surrender his personal wealth to defray the city’s liability in the suit.
Ditto the Chief, and the city councilmen.
Enough is enough.
Umm, the DA dropped all charges against the woman, said there was absolutely no grounds for her arrest... read the whole story.
“I dont think Dennis is insane”
But you obviously aren’t certain. LOL
I agree.
Insane or not, Dennis is the vast majority (both parties) and the politicians know it. So, it's only gonna' get worse.
And it is also possible that some guy standing there with his hands in his pocket will pull out a gun and shoot the cops... That is an unnecessary risk cops shouldn’t have to face. So why don’t we let the cops apprehend everyone present just to be on the safe side? /s
I get what you’re saying, but apparently you don’t get what I’m saying. Cops have rights as well and one of those rights is the right to go home at the end of his shift.
Is the concept of a cop having the right to go home at the end of his shift pass by above your head?
I do understand that some Freepers don’t like the police and think that dead police is just the price they should pay for being a cop, I get that.
I just simply disagree.
I do think that people should be able to publicly film arrests, but the police have the right to take reasonable precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them, because not everybody plays as nice as Freepers do and the cops don’t always know who will play nice and who will not.
>> “Because the truth on that camera threatens them.” <<
.
That condenses it all down to a simple fact.
Waco, Ruby Ridge, every voting booth in the country; its all the same.
The thugs fear the truth, and they own the courts.
Republican and Democrat are two committees of the same club.

“People WANT a tyranny! I used to be like the Bushies and think everyone dreamed of living under our beautiful Constitution. Heck, AMERICANS despise freedom!”
Okay, you lost me there. If you have that bleak of an outlook, why are you wasting your time on Free Republic? Free Republic is about sharing information to protect liberty stem the tide of tyranny.
It’s not about wringing your hands like it’s all over and we can’t win. We FIGHT.
What you posted is the mentality of a LOSER. It’s the mentality of a coward and a whining defeatist. I can’t stand it. WE FIGHT ON, and we stand up for truth.
Plus what you posted is not true, it’s absolute ridiculous garbage.
Please don’t ever make a post like that to me again.
>> “Cops have rights as well and one of those rights is the right to go home at the end of his shift.” <<
.
Nothing but emotional rhetoric.
The biggest threat to the cop’s “right to go home at the end of his shift” is the cop’s own thuggish behavior.
(No cop hater either, my circle of friends contains lots of cops, and DAs)
I agree that could happen and that is something to watch for, just as keeping an eye on the person doing the filming is also something to watch for as well.
