Madison-The Dane County Sheriff's Office is investigating a claim by Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley that Justice David Prosser put her in a chokehold earlier this month.

"After consulting with members of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, I have turned over the investigation into an alleged incident in the court's offices on June 13, 2011 to Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney," Capitol Police Chief Charles Tubbs said in a statement. "Sheriff Mahoney has agreed to investigate this incident. . . . "

It was not immediately clear why Tubbs would consult with the court on who should investigate the matter.

At about the same time, Gov. Scott Walker told Journal Sentinel reporters, editors and members of the newspaper's Editorial Board on Monday that the matter involving Prosser and Bradley was "a serious matter."

Asked if the reports about Prosser's behavior, if true, merited his resignation, Walker said: "I don't even want to go down that path…other than to say that just based on the allegations that were made, I can't overemphasize how serious I think the situation is there. Until we know what happened, I don't think it's best for anybody for me to comment on what the next step is until we know what happened."

Walker said the issue of friction in the court needed to be addressed.

"I think, again, beyond the particulars of this case…the fact that there appears to be an ongoing friction among justices in the court is something that has to be resolved.I don't know what the right answer is."

After reports were published Saturday about the incident, Bradley told the Journal Sentinel that Prosser "put his hands around my neck in anger in a chokehold."

All justices but N. Patrick Crooks were in Bradley's suite of offices when the incident happened.

So, are they going to charge Bradley with assault?

Guess this isn’t going in the memory hole as quickly as I feared. Good.

Have criminal charges been filed? If not, what’s to investigate?

All justices but N. Patrick Crooks were in Bradley's suite of offices when the incident happened.

Crooks was one of the pro-union votes in the collective bargaining law case. I have a funny feeling that the witness accounts will divide along party lines.

Well, he will say, “If I had been there, I would have saw Prosser try to choke the Distinguish Judge Bradley! She is such a pussycat!”

Yup. Resulting in a huge dimunition in the already low degree of respect given our court system.

Which may be a good thing. After all, it's reality. And they've earned it.

This is the same Dane Co. Sheriff who would not assist Gov. Walker with security at the state capitol this spring as dirty stinking hippies trashed it. The Gov. requested help from liberal union hack Sherrif Mahoney and he refused. That’s MY sherrif in my county. Actually, if I were a democrat he’d be my sherrif. As is stands, he’s just a sherrif for liberals when they ask for help. Conservatives will just use their own means of defense as usual. OK with me.

RE: this lie of a story about Judge Prosser

We all know this is a made up charge by a moonbat judge.
She no doubt attacked him, and he put up an arm to defend his face or something and she screams that she’s been attacked.

It is disgraceful what we have to put up with here in WI from idiot democrats. IIRC, another lib supreme judge Abrahamson (also a woman) falsly charged Prosser with some kind of attack too. Can’t they at least try a new lie? It’s always the same old playbook with these idiots.

PS- The public school teacher who sent vivid and violent death threats to the repubs in Madison back in March, has to my knowledge, NEVER spent a day in jail.

That case was in Dane County too.

As far as I know she is free as a bird.

Justice is not found in Dane County,WI.

I agree. If you look at the decision, or listen to the oral arguments, it’s clear that the pro-union justices have no problem seeing only what they want to see.

Actually, I think Abrahamson charged Prosser with accurately describing her.

LOL
Yes now I remember. He called her a total B.
I think initially, her story included physical violence, but later it was admitted that he called her the B word.

Meanwhile, the WI public school “teacher” who sent multiple death threats to Gov.Walker and other repubs, remains free as a bird. And our “media” never ever brings the death threats up.

However, all local media has the fake Prosser story as their lead.

Not only are the newspapers here unreadable, the TV news is also unwatchable. The only thing of use, the weather forecast and that is iffy.

Cheers!
