Why not take young, impressionable children to a striptease show, and let them be the judge of whether they enjoy it or not?

How about because parents have a responsibility to see that lies and political propaganda aren't disguised as entertainment and used to brainwash the children?

I agree with the poster who doesn't want his children watching Will&Grace or other shows that promote homosexuality, hedonism, and other destructive behavior as normal.

Comparing Cars 2 to a striptease is a real stretch, even for FR.

Where I go for kid’s movie reviews:

http://www.pluggedin.com/movies/intheaters/cars2.aspx

He mentions the “big oil” connection, but without explanation or details.

Well, dang, I was planning to take my young sons to see this. It would have been their first time in a theater. Not now!

I took my 2 and half year old yesterday. Thankfully all political messages went over his head. But his attention span was not up for a 2 hour movie. We left with about 45 minutes remaining. The best part was the Toy Story short before the movie. Considering his reaction, his favorite part was also the Toy Story short.

In addition to the political propaganda, it was rather violent for a Pixar movie. Murdering rival spy cars, targeting Lightning McQueen to be killed, etc. Not their best work, not by a long shot. Not sure how they managed a G rating, except maybe because they are cars and not people.

I saw the movie this weekend.

The whole "Oil companies are evil" subplot was completely lost on me. One of those deals where that particular piece of the plot was exposed and I said "......wait, what????"

I'd not worry too much about the movie brainwashing your kids.

I was more worried about the $20 it separated from my wallet. Frankly, it wasn't all that great a flick. A few chuckles. Decent moral ("stand by your friends"). Lots and lots of the Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) character, who is funny.......in small doses.

Yes, I have been telling people it really is a whole different kind of movie. The first one had a sweet story, great message and a big heart. This is more of a slam-bang action movie, and a disappoinment to say the least. The opening Pixar short was great, though.

Puss-in-Boots looks absolutley hilarious...

See my post #26. My boy loved it. He thought the “spy car” that had missles and machine guns and turned into a boat and a submarine and...and...and.... was pretty cool.

Cars 1 wasn’t very good to begin with. The weakest of the Pixar films, IMO. Surprised anyone would even want to see a sequel.

I dunno, Wall-E, for me at least, was about like watching paint dry.

Pixar set a pretty high standard with "The Incredibles". Not sure where they could go from there.

There was a slight tinge of PC in the story line....

But can't find any enthusiasm for politicizing an afternoon at the movies with my grandchildren...

We had a blast....
Enjoyed the movie... especially the 3D experience...

To each his own--

“Why not take them, and let them be the judge of whether they enjoy it or not?”
This drip-drip-drip of cultural assumptions and biases in movies that dont NEED to make business the bad guys is indoctrinating people to kneejerk to dislike and disfavor business, white guys, capitalism, etc. 90%

I was frankly beyond annoyed to see Avatar waste magnificent special effects to tell a lame-ass anti-military/anti-technology/anti-corporate message, the same kind of ‘message’ you can get listening to sorry-assed liberal bleating about Bush’s war for oil and other nonsense.

Imagine it this way: What if every Hollywood movie made Jews the bad guys. At some point you would go ... hmm, there is something wrong here. Well, that’s how Hollywood is, except its not Jews, its ... republicans/Christians/American military/business, etc.

So why waste $8 a pop to spend 90 minutes getting a same-old tired plots with the ‘bad guys’ being the good guys and vice versa?

It would be shocking interesting and worthwhile if “Big Oil” and/or those who get the stuff that make cars go were the heroes not the villians.

Kids don’t see politics, they go to be entertained.

“Yes, they are both pushing a liberal social agenda portrayed as entertainment. I don’t like it and don’t want my money supporting it.”

Absolutely.

Those who tout the ‘ignore the message just enjoy the show’ miss the point: You cant ‘enjoy’ a show that is feeding you pap. They are basically saying:
Ignore the dog-poop in the brownies, just enjoy the taste.

I am tired of watching so called ‘humor’ that is liberal prejudice and faked-up ‘villians’ that are charicatures with no relation to real world right and wrong.

It’s wrong, unoriginal, and in the end ... BAD ART. Art needs truth and beauty, and making the stock Big Business bad guy again and again is just recycling garbage. Liberal preachy movies and shows are invariably mediocre.

The director/screen writers were idiotic thugs.

A Big Green crazy world domination lunatic who wanted to destroy all cars would make far more sense in a CARS themed movie.

preferably some crazy eco looney hooked on methane.

But the director came out and said he explicitly decided to make "big oil" the bad guy.

...except, he didn't. There's an opening scene with lots of oil rigs, but the bad guys in the movie are obsolete cars (lemons, as Mater calls them). It's a very enjoyable movie.

In the words of SFC Hulka, "Lighten up, Francis".

“rather violent for a Pixar movie”

Haven’t seen it yet (it’s on the plan for this week with my wife). However, after ‘Up’ and ‘The Incredibles’ and ‘Toy Story 3’, it’d seem hard to think any Pixar movie is going to be “too violent”.

How much you want to bet there’s a sympathetic or heroic gay character too?
