To me the telling line is this:

Peoria police Sunday confirmed there was an incident Friday night but said they were instructed not to comment on it.

If I lived in Peoria I would be wondering why my paid public safety officials were deliberately withholding important information from the public.

I live within 15 minutes of the mob incident location.

Local news stations covered it tonight. The police parked a command post vehicle there tonight. Told residents to stay in there homes.

That’s what we’re coming too. Stay in your homes.

From the Peoria Journal Star, a minimizing of the incident:
Title: "Some claim reports of racist Peoria mob are exaggerated" Includes this: "KHALID (caps added by me) Davis, who lives on Thrush, said the group blocked a few cars but was very orderly. He witnessed no fights and called the racist allegations a 'heck of an exaggeration.'" So it was a "very orderly" crowd that "blocked" traffic and when a single officer showed up, they ran and dispersed. KHALID, seems to be given more weight than he deserves. AND THIS: "Peoria City Councilwoman Barbara Van Auken said Sunday she is outraged by Wilkinson's allegations."

Barbara Van Auken was "outraged" that the citizen reported the "orderly", traffic blocking, crowd that fled in different when an officer arrived who, by the way, didn't see any fighting or fireworks from the fleeing crowd.

IN FAIRNESS, at the end of the article: "Kenny Rogers, who has lived on Sheridan for 10 years, called police Friday after he saw the group "hollering" and stopping traffic on the street. He did not hear anyone yell that they wanted to kill white people. Rogers says the crowd was running wildly around yards and porches. It was the largest Rogers, 38, had ever seen in the neighborhood. "They were doing a show of force," he said, "to show everybody, 'Hey, this is their hood.'"

Gosh, Kenny sounds like a real racist.

Read from a Facebook acquaintance she has seen on 3 different occasions up to 30 rat pack members going through downtown Magnificent Mile, Michigan Ave malls like Neiman Marcus, drifting through, scoping things out, moving on. So it’s downtown loop, and just north in Gold Coast, Streeterville as well, wealthy areas with not enough police, former short shanks Daley deemed them unnecessary.

Friend fantasized about heading up there on his motorcycle, nice weather, women, city life. Told him crazy idea unless in a car with something to fill your hand. I stay out of the city (and Illionis) but recently went to a concert up there, armed to the teeth. There were only 2 police on bicycles on Lake shore drive, and another cop on a 4 wheeler ATV thing up into Sheridan in Rogers Park doing traffic code.

Not sure why the hesitancy of people not to arm themselves and carry daily. More politically correct BS. It’s our endowed Constitutional right. Ignore state, local decrees, go discreet and get used to it. For what’s coming, you will be forced to carry anyway..get in a warrior’s mindset. Carry high capacity firearms with magazines. It’s 2011, not 1911.

Facing a mob, there’s no easy answers. Displaying a weapon and shouting “GET BACK!” will have to followed by action in seconds if no results. Too many people that can outflank you. The numbers outweigh whether or not they are visibly armed. May not work so well in court, but don’t plan on sticking around anyway. Welcome to law of the streets.

Getting out of dodge is major priority of course...although at same time —though many would disagree — I view it as moral duty to stop crime so others won’t be affected. Leaving ripe scum unaffected to do damage on more vulnerable and weak citizens just puts on burr under my saddle, sniff.

Not sure what life in Peoria is like, however southern Illinois has a large gun culture. Zombies start doing mass unrest in city near you, first choice for spec ops is silenced .22 rifle with scope, bipod, subsonic fmj match ammo for urban sniping clean-up....
