Kincaid: Is the FBI Investigating Obama?

Interesting article, though. I know I’m forgetting my school civics, but doesn’t the FBI report to Holder?

The FBI is part of the Department of Justice, but it has autonomy and the FBI reports to its Director, Robert Mueller. The FBI Director does not report to the Attorney General, but instead reports to the Director of National Intelligence on intelligence matters and answers only to the President.

There has been one time in history where the Attorney General held authority over the FBI Director. That was when RFK was able to threaten J.Edgar Hoover because RFK was JFK's brother. And JFK was President, Hoover's boss (there was no NDI then). That lasted until November 22, 1963, when President Kennedy was killed by an assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, who shot Kennedy from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository in Dallas, Texas. Oswald was acting alone.

Interestingly, Mueller's ten-year term as FBI Director is over in September of this year, he became Director on September 4, 2001. But President Obama has requested that legislation be adopted that will extend Mueller's term by two years. While Republicans and Democrats all agree with extending Mueller, some are worried that a legislative act, rather than a re-nomination and confirmation in the U.S. Senate, would not be compliant with the Constitution.

Still, the Constitution says nothing about the FBI and the office was created by legislation, so it follows that the terms of the office can be modified by legislation.

Whoah. I just read the Washington Post article that Cliff Kincaid referenced. It says that the investigation is being conducted by none other than Patrick Fitzgerald.

I had the same sentiments after 8 years of Clinton. Dubya’s failure to hold the Clinton regime accountable for it’s crimes has led to the total mess we have now.

We must elect a reformer if we are to survive. That is, if we actually have another election.

Please, don't repeat silliness such as Oswald acted alone. Hoover was involved in killing JFK, that has been obvious for decades and you describe part of the motive. The other scoundrel that JFK was going to trash when he was re-elected was LBJ.

Hoover would have done anything to stay DIRECTOR of the FBI, that was his life. LBJ had more motive, he was likely going to be convicted and go to jail. Elm Street solved all of that for both LBJ and Hoover.
