“Apparently they don’t consider these things an issue.”

Maybe they didn’t think these things were an issue, but I do.

Governor Gardasil told me a lot about his view of the Little People and his power over them when he signed the vaccine order. His supporters can try to say that that wasn’t a “mandatory order” until they are blue in the face.

The fact is it showed his We Know Best What Is Good for You attitude, and took the cash. There was some kind of payout from Merck, wasn’t there?

I am sick of the GOP fielding candidates we have to hold our noses to vote for.

I want SARAH!

I like Sarah the best but I could happily vote for Perry also. The vaccine order had a parental opt out. I was in the Army and had to get a lot of vaccinations that I thought were stupid or downright unsafe (Anthrax),so maybe I have more of a problem than most people getting riled up about any vaccination order that includes an opt out. The TTC was not a big deal to me either, the plain truth is that I-35 sucks and is inadequate for the traffic it handles. I remember thinking on more than one of the times when I was stuck in a traffic jam on 35 that it would be nice to have a main north-south road in Texas that was not closed for hours every time there is a big accident on it. He could have gone about it differently, but any way he did it, somebody would have bitched. I mean the options are limited. You can have a private company do it and charge a toll to pay for it or you can have the state do it and raise taxes to pay for it. Either way, something will eventually need to be done about I-35, the solution will likely use imminent domain to some extent and people will surely complain about how it is done. The governor who does finally come up with a solution will undoubtedly be called a RINO for years to come over it.

Read the 4th part of the EO concerning Gardisil (which had already been placed on the Federal Vaccines for Children list, so it was free for all Medicaid recipients).

http://governor.state.tx.us/news/executive-order/3455/ Parents’ Rights. The Department of State Health Services will, in order to protect the right of parents to be the final authority on their children’s health care, modify the current process in order to allow parents to submit a request for a conscientious objection affidavit form via the Internet while maintaining privacy safeguards under current law.”

At the time, the Legislature had given all power to name mandatory vaccines to the Department of State Health Services, which is run under the Executive Branch of Texas gov’t. In order to opt out, parents were required to go to Austin every year, to get an official form with a “seal,” to request the opt out form, get the form and get it filled out and then send it back to Austin. This EO changed that.
