I saw a German movie (Wings of Desire?) in which he played himself, but the premise was that he, Peter Falk, was one of several angels who had come down to Earth to experience what it was like to sense the world through human senses. Good movie.

Of course, he also played the grandfather reading from the Never-Ending Story.

The movie was “The Princess Bride”, and he was reading to Fred Savage.

I saw him in the play, Glenngarry Glen Ross in S.F. and he was excellent. He will always be remembered as Colombo, but he had much larger talent.
