Airport screeners around the county have chosen the nation’s largest federal employee union to represent them in collective bargaining talks with the government, federal officials announced Thursday.
The American Federation of Government Employees won a close runoff vote to represent about 44,000 employees at the Transportation Security Administration in the largest union election for federal workers in history.

Republicans have widely criticized the decision to grant collective bargaining rights to airport screeners, arguing the move would threaten the government’s ability to respond quickly during emergencies. The Bush administration refused repeated requests to grant union rights to workers at the T.S.A., which was created after the 9/11 terror attacks. But President Obama promised to reverse that policy during his campaign for the White House.

Uniform Rashes? How to file a Workers' Comp Claim Want to File a Workers’ Compensation Claim But Not Sure Whether to File a CA-1 or CA-2?
If you are developing rashes and other symptoms as a result of the new uniforms, file a CA-1, which is Federal Employee’s Notice of Traumatic Injury and Claim for Continuation of Pay/Compensation. But if the symptoms slowly develop over time, fill out a CA-2 form, which is Notice of Occupational Disease and Claim for Compensation. AFGE suggests that TSOs who have allergic reactions to the new uniforms file either a CA-1 or CA-2 so that their medical bills are paid for and they are compensated if they cannot work because of the injuries.
Every airport should be complying with the new TSA guidance directing FSDs to assist workers in filing workers’ compensation claims and obtaining new uniforms. If your management fails to follow the directive, call us at AFGE’s toll free TSA Hotline at 1-866-392-6832.
During war, all unions involved with the government should be put on hold until all troops come home.

Reagan fired the air traffic controllers who went out on strike in the 80s and, IMO, ALL union government workers should be fired.
