‘lukewarm reception’? First of all you cannot trust the Express-News, it is almost Leninist.

Secondly it implies that these successful businessmen are in favor of Hispanic criminal illegals.

Gov. Rick Perry touted Texas’ economic successes and the role Hispanics have played in them, but did not mention the immigration legislation he has championed in a speech Thursday before the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials.

Is there a similar association for non-Latinos?

About Justice Guzman

As an elected Republican judge for over a decade, Justice Eva Guzman brings strong conservative values to the Texas judiciary. At the core of her judicial philosophy is a stringent adherence to the rule of law and a firm commitment to consider each case on its merits, without regard to any personal feelings or empathy. She knows a judge’s role is not to legislate from the bench but to interpret statutes and our constitutions as written. These core values, together with a solid work ethic and a commitment to efficient docket management, have defined her service at three levels of the Texas judiciary.

Justice Guzman’s family shares her conservative values and devotion to public service. Her husband of 23 years, Tony Guzman has served as a Houston Police Officer for more than 30 years, inspired by his father, a World War II veteran and prisoner of war. Together, they have instilled this spirit of service to others in their daughter Melanie, who, as a high school student, is an ardent volunteer in her community. As a family, they embrace traditional values and share a deep commitment to God, community, and country.

Secretary of State in Hope Andrade

Andrade said she shares Perry’s support for a secure border but added, “The governor feels that Mexico is our neighbor, and we should be neighborly, and I’m going to follow that.”

There is no use pandering to certain groups, because they will never like you.

You were right the first time. The Houston Chronicle is just below the Austin Statesman when it comes to 'Newspaper Rag Ratings'.

He was preceded by San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, who had some harsh words for the Perry-backed immigration legislation, calling it “easily the most anti-Latino agenda in more than a generation.”

"Julián Castro is the son of Rosie Castro, a well-known ’70s firebrand who was among the leaders of La Raza Unida, the radical movement in Texas that was dedicated to defending the civil rights of Mexican-Americans and promoting a strong “Chicano” identity. One of Castro’s first acts as mayor was to hang a 1971 La Raza Unida City Council campaign poster, featuring his mother, in his private office."

I've heard it said that a good way to take the measure of a man is to know who his enemies are.

I don’t know.

I’m assuming this is a very Liberal group.

You know how all these Lefties divide themselves up into victim’s groups.

There is a difference between heritage and politics.

All Hispanics are not Liberals.

All Liberals are not Hispanic.

Gov. Goodhair goes back into pandering mode.

This is why he is not good POTUS material.

True. But he is the Gov. of Texas and he represents all Texans (unlike Obama and how he makes it clear he does not represent all Americans).

When a guy like San Antonio's Mayor Julián Castro is bad-mouthing Rick Perry, that tells me Rick is doing alot right and should be taken seriously as a possible presidential candidate. The usual Perry-bashers and Paulbot spam monkeys won't like that, but so what.

More from the article I linked...

Julián Castro seems entirely comfortable expressing views on national and international matters normally outside the purview of first-term mayors. He and his identical twin, Joaquín, are scions of the west-side barrio political machine their mother helped build... In their spare time they accompanied their mother to political events and strategy sessions, where they were exposed to her fiery style of radicalism...; met the key figures in the Chicano political world; became practiced community organizers on political campaigns; and learned to make the system work for them.

So this Castro fellow is sorta the hispanic version of Obama.

In San Antonio . . . . . to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO). Perry is a dedicated RINO who talks a good game, but his record as governor leaves things to be desired.

You were right the first time. It’s a story from a San Antonio Express-News reporter reprinted by the Houston Chronicle.

What a find!

And to think that Gov Perry was polite and stood there while Castro insulted him before his speech. Such typical Lefty style — cowards!

Commies don’t have class. But American, Texas, Cowboy Conservatives do.

But I bet you knew that. Ha!

Great post. Thank you.
