Gov. Rick Perry is speaking to the group now (reported he was scheduled to give key-note speech at noon).

The Governor Bush was shamelessly pro-illegal. That is why he had such a “relationship” with the Latinos.

Also, how many of these Hispanics are legally allowed to vote?

First off, please define “Latino”. Next define “Hispanic”.

I guess that’s why they say he doesn’t have a good relationship with them (I’m assuming this is a very liberal gathering, judging from the article and their angst about all the GOP Hispanics elected in 2010).

I look forward to reading different accounts of his speech to them.

The Republicans won 56% of the Protestant Hispanic vote, in the 2004 Presidential election.

The most accurate term would be Mexican since that's what the vast majority of so-called "Latinos" and 'Hispanics" are.

We need to develop a culture of participation in which we vote every year.

Oh Yeah, without VoterID, E-Verify and with fake IDs, no border enforcement, plus ICE agents told to look away and no deportations, the illegals will vote for Democrats and expect a payoff of amnesty and more “free” entitlements.

We citizens, legal residents and taxpayers are the new and unloved minority.

The twelve million expected to stay home. ;).

He mentioned "Hispanic Americans", but the amnesty syndicate has cheapened the designation by frequently lumping them all in that category, regardless of legal status. So who knows....

Perry signed voter ID this session!

Saw this today too. Texans get it.

.......The San Antonio congressman, like the governor a strong ally of the tea party movement, said the Obama administration is strangling the American economy with overregulation.

“The root of the problem is an enormous growth of government and what it’s done has created a lot of uncertainty in our businesses so that they don’t want to move one way or the other,” he said.

“There’s just so much going on with all of these agencies, growing their tentacles, interfering with the private sector.”

Mr. Canseco, 61, also sharply criticized the White House’s handling of security along the Mexican border.

“Most of my life ... I’ve lived on the border, and I’ve worked on the border. The border used to be a peaceable area and a very lovely area to go and cross into Mexico ... go to a restaurant, do some shopping and come back. That’s ended,” he said.

“We have the president and [Homeland Security Secretary] Janet Napolitano going to the border and saying it’s safer than it ever been. It caused me to choke,” he said.

“There is so much fear of crossover violence.”

Speaking as a conservative, christian, American of Cuban descent, I tell you the following: Hispanics (I loathe the term “latino”)are mostly a, conservative, family-oriented, pro-God, pro-country people. They don't want same sex marriage. And believe it or not, like me and my family and friends, we don't want illegal immigration.

Most of us left our countries of birth fleeing socialism, fascism and communism. We don't want that type of leadership in our adopted country. The best country in the world, The United States of America.

Get rid of the wet-foot, dry-foot Cuba policy. Secure our borders and send all illegals back. They are sucking at the very heart of this country. Depriving us tax-paying citizens of services because their health care, schooling and other services are costing us billions.

We need a republican candidate who is not only a conservative but an outspoken conservative. He or she needs to let the public know their conservative ideas, loud and clear.

We are starving for conservative leadership; it works every time it's tried. DON'T BE AFRAID. SAY IT.

They are saying he doesn’t have a good relationship - despite pandering to them for a decade - to attempt to manufacture a new image of him as a conservative instead of the former democrat RINO who was Al Gore’s texas campaign manager.

People outside of Texas often haven’t had to live with his pandering.

The Bushes were in no way greater open borders advocates than Perry has been.

Really MrEdd, you need to catch up.

“....”If you show up illegally, without your card or you’re here as a criminal element, I’m for throwing the book at those folks, but the issue of people who want to legally, thoughtfully and appropriately come to America to work and help us build our economy — we should quickly come up with a program and an identification card to do that.”...”
