I think that we may not yet have heard the real reason the staff quit. And Gingrich seems far too ambitious to settle for being a pundit. He may have no likelihood of winning the nomination, but it's not clear that he sees it that way.

If I recall correctly, the first shot was fired by Øbama when he tried to reduce Palin to being nothing more than the mayor of Wasilly. It was meant to ridicule her and to paint her as an unaccomplished nobody.
Newt is supposed to be so smart but as I have said in the past, dinosaurs like Newt, Rove, Krauthammer , Kristol and their ilk have no clue how politics work now, since the arrival of Øbama. Alinsky tactics have been used for years against Republicans, it’s only now that some have learned what they are and how to fight back.These are the people who have bent over and taken it for years. They still think they are supposed to play by the old rules which is why they are pretty much irrelevant.
Gov Palin knew Obie's Achilles heal and tried to exploit it. Problem was the McLame campaign reined her in.
Who(m)ever the nominee is, they must pound him on how his shallow resume got us to this point. The man who couldn't make a decision. He will crack.
