Jon Stewart Under Fire for Herman Cain Race Joke
Fox ^ | 6/23/2011 | Fox Nation

Posted on 06/23/2011 9:33:24 AM PDT by Qbert

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s appeal to many is that he is not like your typical politician and instead more of a straight-talking man of the people, as he likes to say himself. Rarely does Cain shy away from a controversial issue, and now he too is commenting on the Jon Stewart and Chris Wallace showdown, which has particular significance, since he himself was a focal point of that debate.

Cain reminds his audience of a prior statement he made that “no bill is going to be longer than three pages.” Stewart mocked this suggestion as an unrealistic fantasy, to which Cain responded:

“Some of these idiotic reporters thought I was serious. The joke’s on them. The message was short bills. Understandable bills. No it’s not literally going to be three pages. The executive summary will be three pages. But they want to jump all over me -- Jon Stewart.”

Yet the most controversial part of Stewart’s joke was the fact that Stewart imitated Cain using what many considered to be an Amos and Andy type of voice. Cain didn’t comment previously on the incident since he’s be campaigning and only first heard about it yesterday during a phone interview for Sean Hannity’s radio show. Cain told Hannity:

“First of all, if [Stewart] really thinks that I’m serious about a bill only being three pages the joke’s on him. And I said secondly, as far as him mocking me, look I’ve been called every name in the book because I’m a conservative, because I’m black. Sticks and stone may break my bones, words are not going to hurt me.” Read more at Mediaite.com

You can find the actual comment posted on youtube. What he said was along the lines of:

“I’m tired of these thousand page bills nobody reads. I want bills that are short. Three pages, that’s something people would read.”

I’ll track down the actual quote (or you can on youtube) and post it. It’s obvious that the operative word was SHORT. Three pages was given as an example of a short bill, not as the upper limit.

Here Cain is borrowing from the Constitution of the Confederate States, which stipulated that each bill could only adress ONE subject, which had to be stated in the title.

You know, I wish Herman would vault to the top sometimes. Maybe he still can. For me it’s Sarah, Michele or Herman in 2012. I’ll vote for whoever the GOP nominee is though, even if it’s Mitt or Ron Paul.

Jon Stewart is just a failed actor trying to cobble together a career.

Yeah, cobbling together a mere $14 million a year. What a failure.

Well he certainly didn't make much as an actor so he did fail at that. And I guess making tons of cash is "success," even while being a propaganda tool for the left, so you've got me there.

What irks me about Stewart is that when it suits him he pretends to be a real reporter ... but when something backfires he claims to be nothing more than a comedian.

That and the fact that he shills for the Democrats.
