Surrender takes different forms, just as winning does. My take is the United States has spent ten years trying to reform the region into a democracy, and has failed.
The failure isn’t a reflection upon the United States, but rather a product of Afghanistan’s culture. These people don’t share our values, and never will. In fact, the hard core citizenry would rather destroy our way of life.
My take is the United States should bring all the troops home immediately. Defense mechanisms should be developed and deployed to keep these people at bay. Let them live in their culture, and prevent them from bringing it to our shores.
Being that Hussein is ANTI-America and PRO-Muzzie, I’m sure he sees this as a victory.
There will remain a full combat capability for this season and the next and the next.
Also, our drone overwatch is greatly expanded and covers nearly all resupply routes so we need far fewer force protection troops and our combat operations are much more surgical and less troops needed.
No authentic victory can occur in any war or conflict unless your enemy decides to stop fighting. Anyone with even the most remedial knowledge of the Pahktun would laugh at the thought of them being willing to stop fighting.
Pahktun stop fighting when they stop breathing.
Victory has never been available to us, so don't be disappointed. We have a weapons and surveillance platform in AfPak from the four biggest military bases in S Asia and will be conducting ops for many years to come.
I am waiting for all of the leaks detailing how Obama sided with Slow Joe Biden over the combined wisdom of his senior military.
