I guess Kate Gosslin was unavailable to go with her.

Good idea, lots of serious downside and no upside.

Ping!

Palin scrapped her plans to visit the North African country for scheduling reasons, several sources close to Palin said.

Something seems to be going on. There are reports she cancelled her bus tour, now she is cancelling out the Sudan trip. It will be interesting to see what is going on.

Perhaps a 4th of July parade in Iowa - at a resort community between Des Moines & Minneapolis that puts on a nationally known Independence Day celebration...

I didn’t want Palin going to Sudan in the first place.

Sudan is a great place to not go to right now. I'd expect Robert Young Pelton to go, but not many others. Some friends who are missionaries there (for years) just got evacuated.

My take is that between this and the early halt to the bus tour, she’s received some credible DEATH THREATS. What better place to try to take out an opponent than in a war torn area like Sudan.

Don’t forget “they” took out Larry McDonald over the Sea of Japan in ‘83. The 267 others were acceptable collateral damage.

Sudan is extremely dangerous. I’m sure she is guarded, but she would need a full presidential guard in a place like that.

I think she wanted to oblige her friend Franklin Graham, who invited her, but just couldn’t justify doing it.

I’m not convinced that Sarah Palin is ‘up to something’ with this cancellation. I believe it was partly a security issue for her. Sudan is a very dangerous place and if Palin had to take a horde of bodyguards for security plus the inevitable media herd that would follow her she may have figured that she would be more of a distraction than an asset to the groups purposes. I’m just not reading anything political into this - but I could be wrong.

Perhaps she was “up to” too much and figured it out.
