I used to think that legalizing drugs was a no brainer - just as you stated that the war on drugs has been a dismal FAILURE! I mean, it has only been “slightly” less effective than the original prohibition amendment! /sarc
However, when Barney Frank thinks it is a good idea, I have to seriously consider that I am mistaken in my thought process. Maybe this is Frank’s “a stopped watch is correct twice a day” moment!
My brother Jonathan Treisman (1st cousin to Michael Treisman your past assistant) lives in LA county and since the legalization of marijuana the quality of life for those who don’t smoke or use drugs has suffered. The smoke is awful, it seeps onto the streets and sidewalks where non smokers and children walk. Drug addicts loiter and it makes an unsafe environment for children.
