[excerpt].....When Obama continued to refuse even five minutes for the Governor, Perry took matters into this own hands and was standing on the tarmac at Austin’s airport when President Obama stepped off of Air Force One. Obama looked confused, Perry looked determined. Obama still ignored the pleas for help.

Perry again took matters into his own hands, and established an elite unit of Texas Rangers to bolster border security.

...“After working closely with the Attorney General’s Office the last few weeks, I’m confident that we can pass legislation that addresses these threats, while protecting innocent passengers and preserving our state’s rights.”

Should Rick Perry enter the GOP field of candidates for the 2012 Republican nomination for president, the conflict between Perry and Obama could take center stage on a national level. [end excerpt]

[excerpt] Illegal immigrants entering Texas’ higher education system are direct beneficiaries of a 1982 Supreme Court decision, Plyler vs. Doe. Parents in Tyler sued after the state began charging tuition for illegal immigrant children. The court ruled that Texas and the rest of the country must educate illegal immigrant children free of charge in public schools.

Some of the most vocal illegal immigration opponents don’t oppose the decision. But they say higher education is different, because it is tuition-based.

........A challenge to a similar law in Kansas failed in 2005 after a federal judge found that out-of-state college students had no standing to challenge the law there, since they had not been harmed by it. [end excerpt]
