Only one person has gone from being a sitting congress critter directly to the white house. I don't think any other has even become a party nominee.
Nice try though......
Ford was closest, although it took an appointment, a resignation, plus he was Speaker of the House, not just an ordinary congresscritter.
Maybe you could try a couple of guesses as to why this is so true, congresscritters don't become nominees.

You are so hung up on Bachmann being in congress. Who cares! This does not validate someone who is not even running.

Well, there is always a first time, and the VP claim, since I clarified the conditions, still stands true. So, since you are so into pointless trivia, according to your criteria, Palin is in big trouble.

Sitting “Congress Critters” elected President:
Kennedy (D), Senator, elected President in 1960.
Harding (R), Senator elected Prsident in 1920.
Garfield (R), Representative, elected President in 1880.
I’m sure there are more, but I didn’t bother to go back further.
