Hey, what happened to the ‘BIRTH PLACE OF CIVILIZATION’ on it’s way to 2011?

That seems to be the $64K question doesn't it. How someplace can supposedly spawn all of humanity yet remain itself unchanged while the rest of humanity learns to write, form metal, build civilizations and go to the moon, is frankly quite baffling. Either that or it's not true.
