GOP magic trick:Making George W. Bush vanish
Politico ^ | June 20th, 2011 | Johnathan Martin

Posted on 06/20/2011 6:02:23 PM PDT by KantianBurke

NEW ORLEANS — Republicans head into 2012 united in their disdain for an unpopular, Big Government-loving, internationalist president.

The name of that president: George W. Bush.

From Capitol Hill to the statehouses to the presidential primary, Republicans are turning their back on almost every important accomplishment of the Bush administration.

I am thrilled to ignore you.

But I will continue to note your solidarity with the left on this matter, and regard your 'conservatism' accordingly.

Bush was better than a liberal president.

That would seem to suggest Bush was a small government, conservative president.

Come on.

Yet again the MSM gets it wrong in their zeal to damn all things Bush and all things Republican. Republicans aren’t “united in their distain” for Bush. Most Republicans I know have a mixed view of Bush, myself included. I think he was an abject failure on government expansion, entitlements, spending and amnesty. I think he did an admirable job on war issues and Supreme Court picks. Bush was a mixed bag, nothing more but nothing less.

I subscribe to Human Events. I have to assume you do not. You would not believe the number of articles written in that pub that demonstrated Bush’s great lack of conservative principles. He did conservatve things. But he was no conservative.

Check out the Bill Gertz video link I provided above.

Your definition of morality is whatever agrees with your political pov.

While I may agree with your politics nearly down the line, I strongly disagree with your equating those political opinions with morality.

And I will continue to remember that your hatred of Bush was 'validated' (in your own words in post #1) by this leftist article.

The alliance is worth noting because it is so consistently revealed with articles such as this one.

I was just leaving.

It seems that disagreeing with the left is anathema to BDSers, so there's no more to say.....

In the real world hating Bush solves nothing.

It's like arguing over questionable decisions and policy gaffes of former President Hindenburg in 1936 when there are more pressing issues looming on the horizon.

Let's see how “dumb” Bush really was?

He “stole” an election and then got reelected 4 years later.

If Politico thinks this will distract from Obama’s failures then they got another thing coming.

“But even if I give you your point”

Then you either lied or were ignorant and spouted off irrespective of the facts regarding the privatization of Medicare Part D. Which is it?

Free pills for granny was immoral, unconstitutional and harmful for this country. And that’s just one example of his policies during his administration. Policies which the GOP have FINALLY purged themselves of.

Hmmm...

I'm no Bush-ite, but I suspect the masses would drop to their knees and welcome back 4.6% unemployment and $1.85/gallon gasoline, aka the “Bush Economy”.

For better or worse, W did win 2 terms as POTUS; that puts him head and shoulders above Jimmah.

Even here in enemy territory, the libtards I hear aren't playing the Bush card like they did for years; they know Obama owns this mess.

I suspect the “Bush” name isn't anywhere near as toxic as it was even a year ago. The Rats have proven they are too incompetent to govern - thus making Bush look relatively good by comparison.

My two cents.

Well, their usual tricks sure worked on this thread.

It never fails to amaze me how so many on FR have fallen (and continue to fall) for MSM strategy.

I don't lie. Oy.

I said I'd look up what I had read about it, and I will.

Again.......you equate your political opinions with morality. A dangerous habit, since morality is based alone on the truths revealed in Scripture and the principles in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Anyway, I understand that you think anyone who disagrees with your opinions is immoral. You really don't have to keep repeating yourself on that. You've made your point more than enough.

Now enjoy your 'vindication' by the left, and good night.

I mean look at post #48 for an example...someone who falls for the same old propaganda of "Blame Bush" for Obama.

Yes, Politico is smart in knowing it can rope in PLENTY of conservatives with this tactic.

No it doesn't. It merely suggests that there was a discernable difference between GWB (who I did NOT vote for in 2000) and a liberal.

I will admit that Bush was a much better President than Obama is, but that's pretty faint praise. IMHO, Bush and his administration helped Obama get elected, albeit it inadvertently.

The red flag was the wink wink to the cultural marxists, when he sold them on compassionate conservatism.

However, I would take that globalist elitist over the current usurper any day.

What got Obama elected was a Republican Candidate name McCain and a successful campaign by Pelosi and Reid to label the whole GOP as the Party Of Corruption.
