GOP magic trick:Making George W. Bush vanish
Politico ^ | June 20th, 2011 | Johnathan Martin

NEW ORLEANS — Republicans head into 2012 united in their disdain for an unpopular, Big Government-loving, internationalist president.

The name of that president: George W. Bush.

From Capitol Hill to the statehouses to the presidential primary, Republicans are turning their back on almost every important accomplishment of the Bush administration.

So, did Bush shrink or grow Gubmint? You tell me

I can ask the same question about Ronald Reagan and you will have to answer that he did not shrink government.

Please pay attention to the actual words I've said, nomad. Your leaps to conclusions have sent you on the wrong path.

And that you, who have helped the troops are not even wise enough to realize that President Bush was a stellar CinC who is and was adored by his troops. Even now, he is working with the Wounded Warriors, riding an 100k with wounded troops who respect and admire him. And you don't even have the reasoning power to admit that he is not the buffoon you pretend that he is.

Politics make strange bedfellows, and you, a professed conservative, have crawled under the sheets with the left.

Enjoy your stay.

And I see that the Bush-bashers are on here in force as well. You’d think the man didn’t do anything right! Bless you and a few others on here who try to remind these people and still stick up for him!

You can't make any progress with the irrational children who hate President Bush, but at least you can post the truth about a man who has far more character in his little finger than most of those who hate him have in their collective bodies.

Ronald Reagan was a politician.

His memory has been blurred by the myth that he was without flaw, and that detracts from the reality that he was a good man doing his best for the country he loved.

Just like President Bush.

BSD (Bush Derangement Syndrome) is alive and well in Democrat Underground — and Free Republic

And not one of these BDSers is bright enough to realize that they're cheering on the leftist attempt to destroy conservatism.

Now they're doing the same with Palin. Falling right into the same trap.

Or perhaps they're the ones setting the trap. In either case they're divisive and destructive, and IMO, that's their point.

I once had a pseudo con on FR call me a thief because my kids went to public school, and he also used the Ten Commandments as cover.

I asked him if he wasn't a thief when he rode on publicly funded highways, and he started calling me more names.

Thus, it is always so with those who equate their own politics with morality.

You are on a dangerous path, KB, and I would watch myself, were I you.

One of the most admirable things about President Bush is his humility, especially before a Holy God. There are many pillars of character that I see in the man whom God chose to lead us for eight years - honor, morality, character, humility, strength, courage, reliance on God for guidance - and I frankly find them absent in those who hate him.

While I may agree more politically with some of the Bush haters, there is nothing about you to admire. And while I disagree politically with President Bush in several key areas, there is much about him to admire.

Groupthink ain't my thing, KB. Enjoy your moment in the sun with your fellow BDSers here who also think that agreeing with the left about President Bush is what the cool guys do....

Bush (either one) was the best president that China, India, and Mexico ever had.

Dangerous path...OOOOOO LOL, you see any Republicans asking Bush to campaign with them the last two elections? Expect any in 2012?

Bush was a liberal under one famous definition: he wouldn’t take his own side in a fight. That was the most frustrating thing about him. He wanted to be liked by the other side, and that is impossible without complete capitulation/collaboration. He gave them their education bill, huge social spending, campaign finance reform, and tried on immigration. It wasn’t ever enough. They still hated him. There is much to like about President Bush, and very much for the GOP to learn from his mistakes.

It’s telling that you’re unable to differentiate between public schools and a freebie govt bennies for votes from old people.

Its even more telling that you’re resorting to threats though not surprising. Called out as a fraud and unwilling to admit that hey, Medicare WASN’T privatized under Bush, I guess that’s all you’ve got left. Laughable.

“Groupthink ain’t my thing”

No, hero worshipping is.

I say these so called GOP heads are insane. W made mistakes but he also was a good President. I would rather have him still in the Oval office today than the piece of work we have now.

Give me a break. GWB is responsible for his own actions. That is standard political tripe. If you go over MSNBC they are making the same lame excuses for Obama flipping so many positions from his promises to them :that he is too nice a guy, that he insists working with Republicans, that wants to be liked by them, that he doesnt understand how bad the other side is, BLA-BLA-BLA. This is just canned party excuses that gets repeated. They need to hold Obama responsible for his actions and quit blaming others, as you need to with Bush.

Look, Bush worked with Pelosi to ban safe light bulbs, that wasnt Obama it was Bush. He created a new entitlement in 2004 that we are stuck with the bill for (for purely political reasons.) That wasnt Pelosi or Obama, that was Bush. He stuck us with NCLB without private school vouchers. That was Bush. Then there was campaign finance reform... it's endless. He didnt pass any of that socialist crap to get Democrats to like him, he knew that would never happen especially after the 2004 election.

Read your comment, so I thought I would run a quick check. Found this article: “McIlroy Cruises to U.S. Open Victory” What do you think?

You gotta admit it was sweet of her advising you that if 'she was you' she would 'watch herself' after you posted something she didnt like about GWB.

You just dont see many examples of consideration for others like that now-a-days :)

"What this has taught us — Bush 41 and Bush 43 both taught us — is that this is the Reagan Republican Party,” said Americans for Tax Reform head Grover Norquist. “Those bits where Bush deviated from Reagan’s direction either didn’t work or have gone in the memory hole."

There's no doubt that Bush disappointed us in a lot of areas. But foreign policy is not one of them. If anyone thinks that Reagan would have done anything different than Bush after 9/11 I think they are gravely mistaken. He would have done everything in his power to ensure another 9/11 didn't happen again. That's what we're doing in Afghanistan. We better not draw down the troop surge past an acceptable level that Petraeus recommends. Not to appease the leftist base of Obama.

That he was better than Gore or Kerry? And that he’s still better than Obama.
Also, Bush was probably better than most of the other choices offered to us by the GOP. Don’t recall any hard-line Conservatives running running in the 2000 primary.

These people don’t care about the truth. They can’t handle the truth and don’t want to hear about Bush the Democrat, Bush the liberal.

Now the GOP insiders are considering running someone else from Texas? Has any anyone ever heard/seen Perry give a speech? His body language, his demeanor, and his voice are as phony as it gets...I’m talking 3rd rate carnival game caller. It’s down right pathetic and disturbing any conservative capable of critical thought, would even consider these people for high office.
