Ed Henry, CNNs senior White House correspondent, is leaving to take the job of chief White House correspondent at Fox News, a source close to Henry confirms to POLITICO.
Hell be taking over the beat thats been without a permanent reporter since Major Garrett jumped from Fox to National Journal last August.
Hes got a lot of wonderful experiences at CNN, and he appreciated his time there, but in the end, they gave him an offer he couldnt turn down, said the source.
Hell be leaving CNN at the end of the week.
Henry left college early to go to work for legendary muckracker Jack Anderson, working as a correspondent for Andersons syndicatd column while finishing his degree at night. His first newspaper job was for Roll Call, as a senate correspondent and a later a senior editor. At CNN, which he joined as a congressional correspondent in 2004, he won the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress and the Merriman Smith Award for excellence in White House coverage.
During his first month on the job at CNNs White House correspondent in 2006, he shouted a question to President Bush in the Rose Garden about Donald Rumsfelds handling of the Iraq war that prompted the famous retort: Im the decider.
UPDATE: TV Newser has Henrys full goodbye memo to colleagues.
*snip* ... Henrys hiring is part of additional changes in FNCs Washington bureau, the cable news network announced Monday. Wendell Goler and Mike Emanuel, who had shared White House responsibilities, have received new assignments.
Goler has been named Senior White House and Foreign Affairs correspondent, and will take on additional responsibilities covering the State Department.
Emanuel has been named Chief Congressional correspondent. Additionally, James Rosen is now Chief Washington correspondent, covering major Beltway stories and how they impact the country while Carl Cameron continues to be Chief Political correspondent, covering congressional, gubernatorial and presidential elections for FNC.

This oughta be interesting. He's been a full-throated, bended knee, Obama drone.
.. Ping!
How long til they snag Don Lemon ?
Ed Henry is out!?
Ed Henry is out!?
Hmmmm...John Roberts, now Ed Henry? WTH? We’ll see if his “reporting” becomes more objective. I’ve noticed Roberts has become less obnoxious- more actual reporting- less editorializing.
But- I can’t stand Ed Henry- he’s weasely.
We will see how Mr. Henry responds to the pressure of actually having a audience.
Yep .. lured away by big $$$.
FOX is on a liberal roll. Just saw an ad for Bedwetter Olbermann’s new show on the Algore Channel being advertized during O’Reilly’s show on FOX.
But... but... Fox news lies! s/
Yep .. and committed obot, thru and thru.
Same here ... but, it may be the local Fox stations that
are glad to take the ad $$.
This is why my lib friends could not even insult me with their “faux News” rants...I just tell them it’s as liberal as CNN.
I wonder if this is a case of a large ‘Rat leaving a sinking ship, or a case of direct recruitment by a rising power...
Hard to see what Fox thinks they are gaining with this one. As if Whorealdo wasn’t bad enough all by himself....
I dunno...
Hussein worshiper? Really?
He knew pretty quick he was out. He had a job at Fox before the axe dropped.
yitbos
“They gave him an opportunity that he just couldn’t refuse”...The opportunity to be on a network that actually has viewers.

That was probably your local cable system doing a promotional insert on one of their local avail/opportunities that they are allowed. I don’t know that the powers that be at FNC would take a paid ad for something that would be competition.
Geeze...it sounds like Fox News is going to become even harder to watch than it already is.
