It used to be that people lived in communities worthy of the name, and had extended families and friends who helped one another out. That sort of society probably provided more real help to women with post-partum issues than our broken society. We have people living in their own little castles, which sounds good but doesn’t lend itself to dealing with situations like this where a helpful friend or family member could have made all the difference in the world.
