Texas Gov. Rick Perry sounds more like a presidential candidate by the day. This weekend he gave a rousing speech at the Republican Leadership Conference in which he blasted the Obama administration as a bunch of smarty-pants busy-bodies.
“They clearly think they know best,” said Governor Perry. “And let me tell you, I vehemently disagree. They don’t know best.”
As he kept speaking he was interrupted by audience members chanting “Run Rick, Run!”
But here’s a question: Is it too late for Gov. Perry to throw his drawl into the ring?
It gets late early when it comes to running for president, to paraphrase baseball great Yogi Berra. That’s because it takes time to put together a staff and rustle up a posse of donors.....
However, there are a number of reasons why Perry in particular might be able to hem and haw a bit longer than your average presidential hopeful.....
For another thing, Perry shouldn’t have any trouble lassoing cash. That’s not just because Texas is full of stereotypical conservative oil millionaires.....
Finally, being southern may give Perry an inherent electoral advantage over the northerners, easterners, and Utahan (or is it Utahn?) that make up the rest of the field.
...Plus, the GOP electorate in Iowa, that all-important first caucus state, is about 60 percent born-again Christian. That’s the same as many Southern states, points out Mr. Silver.

The elite media sees a Conservative who loves their country as a bumpkin, a chawbacon, a churl, a clodhopper, a cornball, a countryman, a hayseed, a hillbilly, a hick, a rube, a rustic, a yokel....
The elite msm call people who love America provincial: people of local or restricted interests or outlook; person lacking urban polish or refinement.

The 2011 Texas Inauguration and Oath of Office Ceremony was held under cloudy skies on the south steps of the State Capitol Tuesday afternoon where Governor Rick Perry and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst were sworn into office. Governor Perry and First Lady Anita Perry walk under the Texas A&M Ross Volunteer Company Honor Guard at the start of the ceremony.
Rick Perry will not find a better time to run for the presidency. His electoral advantage should be stacked against the advantages of the other republican candidates and seen as the asset that it is.
That’s not to say that he’ll win, but there is reason to believe middle class America was seriously misled by and is now seriously disappointed with the Obama presidency.
It is indeed too late for him to be viable for 2012.
He needed to stop blocking legislation to enforce emmigration in Texas two years ago to be credible. He failed to track to the center early enough to be believable.
He remains the Kelo vs. New London eminent domain abuse poster boy.
The best he can do is govern to the right, stay out of the legislature’s way, and try in 2016.
Whether it is too late for him to get in will depend on Bachmann’s momentum and the extent that she has already captured the support of the conservative wing of the party. The extent to which she has done this will determine how much room Perry has to run. Prior to Bachmann catching fire in the wake of the New Hampshire debate, Perry had a lot of room to run. That may no longer be the case. Of course he can still get in, but his path to victory is a little less clear now. Has Bachmann won over support from those within the party who could propel Perry to victory, or will a Perry entrance in the race result in that support moving to him? It seems like a hard one to call.

The msm will have to work overtime this election cycle to “elevate” Obama to the voters.
I guess it depends on how many people have now become so crippled by the Democratic Party that they vote for them out of fear...and then there is voter fraud.

As I said, he needed to have stopped blocking this same legislation at least two years ago, (two terms as governor ago would have been even better) to be credible. His eve of launching a presidential bid flip flop on the borders fails to convince. It makes him seem like a Mitt Clone.

It's either Palin, Perry, or Palin/Perry in my mind. I've been researching/investigating for days and saw something late last nite, that put Perry back on the radar for me, and that is his support for Israel.
With that said, I will not sit out the election (have never done so) because we must get rid of these marxists in the WH/administration before all of this takes solid root.
WE MUST have people with clear direction. Palin and Perry both are/have been Governors and Governors of liberty loving states no less. They are in a completely different realm than the politicians currently throwing their hats in the ring.
2012 is do or die for the United States of America. That's it...we either exterminate the maggots in the WH and cut the rot and infected out of our system or we die. THIS IS IT...PERIOD
