On Saturday, Texas Governor Rick Perry delivered the keynote address in New Orleans at the Republican Leadership Conference. Some 2,000 party activists from 38 states attended, hearing from several 2012 GOP presidential candidates on Friday as they argued why they want to replace Barack Obama in the White House. But no speech came close to getting the positive response as Perry did on Saturday. When finished, Rick Perry was met with chants of Run, Rick, Run! and Perry 2012!
The highlights of Rick Perry′s speech focused on three key points. That the Republican Party must stand for reducing the size and power of the Federal government. That the GOP needs to be the party that defends the Right to Life. That Republican politicians and spokespeople need to stop apologizing to the Left-Wing Media for believing in a Constitutionally-limited government, individual liberty, and morality.
Perry served up plenty of red meat, bashing Obama for his over-spending and over-regulating ways. Gov. Perry warned that Obamacare would bankrupt state governments due to the health care reform law mandates. He laid out four guiding principles for Conservative politicians to subscribe to. Do not spend every dime collected in taxes. Keep taxes low. Keep regulations at a minimum. Institute tort reforms to reduce frivolous lawsuits. Perry said that this is how he has guided the state of Texas, now elected for a third term, to be the most growth-friendly state in the union. Texas has accounted for over 47% of all new jobs created in the past two years.
There seems little doubt now that Texas Governor Rick Perry will run for president. His speech at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans Saturday was a clear signal, laying out his reasons for replacing Barack Obama in the White House. Gov. Rick Perry will probably not announce his joining the 2012 presidential race until after the Texas Legislature ends its session later this summer. Meanwhile, he is beginning to put together a team for early primary states such as Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

At least he’s not Romney.

Yeah, there is that. Still, a Republican Texas governor with RINO tendencies (if not an outright RINO) would be Obama's dream. He could run against George W. Bush yet again.
I just don't thinkt this country is ready for another Texas governor, nor for another Bush (Jeb). I'm firmly in the "Read my lips, no new Bushes" camp. And I have my doubts about Republican Texas governors for 2012 (and maybe for 2016). That last one didn't work out so well for us. I'm not sure if people's memories have faded enough for that to work.
I think Perry is waiting on Palin. If she bows out, he will run. If She runs, he is looking to be VP.
Bingo!!
I’m from NH and I don’t know anything about this guy.
I DO know this: Texas is doing well, this guy has been Governor for 12 years (that’s long enough to f*** it up), and Sarah endorsed him.
THEREFORE: he can’t be all bad.
I do agree, however, that ANYTHING which resurrects GWB in the mind of the American voter would be bad, and the “the last time we picked a governor from Texas” ads will write themselves.
Did you watch the video?
This guy can wipe Obama up and toss him on the trash heap of history.
With Perry in the Presidency and a republican Senate we might have a chance to turn around Obamas BS policy’s.
You want $7 a gallon gasoline?
I want Perry to face direct questions about globalism and in particular to his postion on the UN using our military, North American Union agenda and agenda 21.
If he’s a globalist in this stage of it’s “progress”, he’ll screw the country, the people and the constitution.
Anything would be an improvement from what we have now, but Perry has those RINO tendencies, for sure.
I would be afraid of his SOTUS appointments.
He did a little point/counter-point discussion with my state’s socialist governor, Martin OMalley, on the web a few months back and Perry held his own.
The insiders are going to run this career politician.
Bet the rent.

I like him. I am very interested in finding out more about him.
The first time I have felt this for a candidate since “W” in ‘99.
The rest of the feild, in my opinion is too scared to speak the truth and obvious. Example: Bachman won’t comment on Romneycare.

sounds about right ~ more of the same.
I know a few friends who are GOP insiders ~ will have to find out what they think. I bet they love him!
I’m a native Texan, and I DO know something about this guy.
I DO know this: Texas is doing well, and we were doing quite well before Rick Perry moved into the governor’s mansion. He takes credit that is not truly his to take.
He’s used the executive branch (which, thankfully, is rather weak in Texas) to stall eminent domain reform, to propose and push a monumental land-grab through our most productive agricultural region, and to espouse other unpopular big-gov proposals at us.
THEREFORE: he is indeed all that bad, but I’ll vote for Porky Pig to keep Obama from a second term.
Seriously, are we really this desperate??
Doesn't the GOP have a non-globalist candidate? If not, screw them. America first, last and only.
Sorry for the double post but this site is hosed today.
It keeps giving me an error message everytime I try to refresh or click on a thread.
Same old thing...Over and over and over and over and over.
Hold your nose...Where have we heard that?
No one is perfect...How many times have we heard that?
How about, "Well, he's better than Obama"...Good grief...So is a ham sandwich...
The insiders are roping the dopes, once again.

Just look at the candidates so far. Ugh.
