If Perry runs and Palin doesn’t he’s my man!
We’ve got to stop mittens at all costs.
Gird your loins, the barking dogs are racing this way! :)
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has him beat by a country mile in the longevity department. Might want to do a little research.
Romney called me this morning asking for money and I laughed at them...then they kept asking for smaller amounts...I said "you don't get it, do ya?"
CSPAN at 10:10 CDT will rerun Perry’s speech to the Republican Leadership Conference made today in New Orleans. It last about 25 minutes.
While I think Perry would be a good candidate, the logic in this article is broken. Perry isn’t the one that made texas a non-income tax state—been that way for years. Many of the items reflect the views of Texans that voted for him as a lot of that stuff just doesn’t happen because a governor said do it.
My question is how will Perry do when he doesn’t have a huge majority of the public supporting him? Will he stick to Conservative values or will he give in to the liberal push of DC?
1980's Perry was a few times elected to the Texas State House as a Democrat and that he was the Texas Chairman of Al Gore's 1988 failed presidential campaign.
That's not like Reagan being a Democrat back in the 1930s. Any adult who belonged to a socialist party that late in history and backed punk sociopathic liar Al Gore, the scion of a dynasty financed by Stalin's friend Armand Hammer, cannot be trusted at all. End of story.
My bet is Perry gets in and Palin will endorse.
Pshaw and pfooey.
Spoken as a Texan who has seen Perry operate for years.
But I’ll take a crooked politician over a determined socialist any day.
There is no perfect candidate, but we really don’t need to stoop this low.
You’d think that, after 2008, we’d have learned not to be fooled by a slick tongue and charisma.
Rest assured the more folks learn about the former Democrat turned RINO Rick Perry the less they are going to like about him. He is a fence sitter when it comes to conservatism. Wet his finger and hoists it in to the air to see where to come down on certain conservative issues much of the time as I recall.
What’s the country mile?
I remember Branstad being Gov. 2 terms, then was out for 1 or 2 terms and was just elected again. Smartest move Iowa made. But isn’t that 9?
He is a Christian and has been proactive in getting anti abortion guidelines into law. Moreover of all the jobs created in the country in this lousy OBOZO depression, at least 37% of them have been created in Texas (according to FOX NEWS today), so obviously he knows how to get the gubmint off folks backs in the private sector.
I'd rather take a chance on Perry than somebody like Chris Christie. That POS is one of the most dangerous RINOs on the planet. I'd love to see perhaps a Perry-Bachmann ticket. I need to know a little more about Bachmann but the VPOTUS job should season her enough to be a great POTUS candidate in 8 years.
Research done!
America's current longest-serving Governor, Texas Republican Rick Perry.(10 years)
Branstad was Iowas longest-serving governor from 1983 to 1999, elected once more in 2010 after 11 years downtime.
Maybe the downtime was the disqualifier, like hitting streaks in baseball. DiMaggio holds the alltime record, but not the current one.
Sorry. This does not feel right in the way he is playing the game in creating a “groundswell” of support. I think he may just as shifty as the last Texan. You can damn well bet I would not have voted for him if I had known he was a social but not a fiscal conservative. The office of the President in my mind is a nice to have but a conservative House and Senate is an absolute got to have. Let's concentrate there and ensure that victory first. Let's not get sidetracked by a slick ad campaign. Not for Newt. I don't knowingly reward adulterers. Not for Rommney. His daddy was an elitist establishment Republican and so is Mott. Not to mention a walking ad for Brylcream (a little dab will do ya). Like Cain, Santorum, Bachmann and Palin. But it's early and things change.
He's right...Perry is the CURRENT longest serving governor. Branstad is in a different term...winning re-election in 2010. So you can read it both ways...
Perry is trying to take credit for the goodness of Texas, for which he is NOT responsible. But he’s done his part to make a mess where he can.
Check out his Trans-Texas Corridor, his ties to Cintra/Zachry, his Gardasil proposal and ties to Merck, his veto of eminent domain reform. Sure, the TTC and Gardasil efforts were eventually withdrawn, but not without massive public outrage and demands. Sure, he just signed a good eminent domain law, but not without years of excuses and stalling. We have a heavy Republican majority in the legislature now, and he had no choice.
As for jobs and the economy, that’s nothing new. Texas was economically healthy long before Perry became governor.
But he’s better than Obama.
Sheesh.
