Someone’s going to have to start making some babies.

Wait, scratch that.

It’s okay if they stay empty a bit longer.

Foolhardy, or prescient? Time will tell. During the 1930’s IBM used its manufacturing capacity on faith that the economy would recover, kept using it even without the orders justifying it I mean, which seemed crazy at the time to many observers, but is what positioned them for success over their competitors when the economy improved. China’s making a bet by doing this; we’ll see if it works out for them as well as it did for IBM.

Socialist minds think alike.....What better way to be able to control the masses, other than by confining them to dense cluster? Lock the exits and control the means for getting from one cluster to the next. Shazaam!

And friends ask if I will ever move back to the mainland from my island......

Maybe they are built in anticipation of American producers and entrepreneurs fleeing a thoroughly Obamified United States? Sort of like Texas is presently getting business and population fleeing blue states. A flight to the relative freedom, prosperity and order of the People’s Republic of China in 24 - 30 months?

A fine example of what happens when government bureaucrats make economic decisions.

More questions. Is China in trouble? If so, is that good for us or bad?

Three possible explanations come to mind:

1- Incompetent planning
2- Good ol’ boy corruption
3- Plans for war

China has its troubles; all countries do. Whether that’s good or bad for us should be less of a concern than our own troubles, QE3, gold and silver trading being restricted mid next month by leftist decree. Schadenfreude is not recommended because it’s a distraction from getting our own house in order. Certainly since they own so much of our debt our troubles are related to theirs. While our consumers have stopped buying, orders for what they’ve been manufacturing have slowed down, which slows down the rest of their economy.

Look, Bill Clinton has very little, if anything, to do with this. China had a pretty advanced technological base before he came in office. He allowed sale of missile guidance systems because we were having a satellite launch capacity shortage. Was it wise? Not in the long run. But was it total incompetence or treason? No.
