Shortly after D-Day when Bradley was ready to begin the breakout, the USAAF sent nearly the entire 8th AF heavy bombers to strike the German defenses and clear the route for the tanks and infantry. Instead they mostly dropped their bombs a few moments early and in minutes inflicted nearly a thousand US casualties.

I just saw an account of that incident on the History Channel last week.That was timing in a non-GPS world,this was just not taking the time to properly idendify the target.Either they were lazy or incompetent.Seems like they made the assumption that the rebels couldn’t possibly have any armour,and just hit them.
