I am pro-life and believe that abortion should be limited to only instances of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother....
--- As much as I share the goals of the Susan B. Anthony List, its well-meaning pledge is overly broad and would have unintended consequences. That is why I could not sign it. It is one thing to end federal funding for an organization like Planned Parenthood; it is entirely another to end all federal funding for thousands of hospitals across America. That is precisely what the pledge would demand and require of a president who signed it.

Not a surprise, and should doom him.
But what’s Cain’s deal?
Pro-abortion, with exceptions.
Translation:
I am pro-abortion in cases of rape, incest, and life-of-the-mother.
Translation:
I am pro-abortion.
I saw Herman Cain being interviewed by Greta and being asked about abortion. He was way too coy. He said he did not yet know enough to have an opinion.
Give me a break.
“Give me a break.”
Indeed, has he been living under a rock for the last 40 years?

"I support right-to-life issues unequivocally and I adamantly support the first three aspects of the Susan B. Anthony pledge involving appointing pro-life judges, choosing pro-life cabinet members, and ending taxpayer-funded abortions, Cain said in a statement. However, the fourth requirement demands that I advance the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. As president, I would sign it, but Congress must advance the legislation.
I have been a consistent and unwavering champion of pro life issues, Cain added. In no way does this singular instance of clarification denote an abandonment of the pro-life movement, but instead, is a testament to my respect for the balance of power and the role of the president."
I don’t know if this is going to get me flamed, but I ask you, if you had to choose between your wife and mother of your other children, and an unborn child, whom would you choose? If your wife asked you to choose her? If you are a man, what is your wife’s opinion on this choice?
Presidents propose legislation all the time. They campaign on behalf of measures they like. Cain is one of the candidates who is actually not a lawyer (thank goodness), but he is talking like one here. Just a little too cute.
No flames for the mentally challenged. It is always foolish to try and establish the rule using the exception as case study. Reboot
Boy, that's a pretty complex task to come up with an opinion on life and death, yep, give him time I'm sure he will have a politically expedient answer to the question soon.
“Saving the life of the mother” is a loophole the Left uses to justify abortion under almost any circumstances. If need be they will find a hack psychiatrist who says it is necessary to protect the “mental health” of the mother.
Balance of powers.
I’d have to choose my wife.First,my life would be meaningless without her.Second, the other children deserve to have a mother.
A true conservative would be considering precisely that option. The Constitution does not empower the Federal govt. to finance health care! The country is bankrupt because of this childish belief that there is a boundless cornucopia of wealth somewhere in Washington capable of solving everyone's problems.
I have been growing more fond of Hermain by the day ... until that glaring error. Being dishonest in order to not being open about what you actually believe is why so many find Romney to be a putrid scumbag. Herman really revealed something lacking with that error. It is much worse than saying, ‘I wouldn’t have an abortion myself, but I don’t think I should make that decision for my neighbor who might want to have an abortion.’
A broad swath of Republicans were enchanted with Scott Brown only to be disappointed with the results they got.
Anyone who supports Romney is only setting themselves up for more disappointment.
I don’t believe a word this man says
Exactly. A true pro-lifer would propose that legislation.
As far as cutting funding for hospitals, I am really torn.
From knowing someone who had to make the decision to carry a baby to term (she was 4 months pregnant-life begins at conception) or begin treatment for stage 4 melanoma, I always recuse myself when the subject of the mother’s health comes up.
She never would have carried the baby to full term before she died from the cancer. If she didn’t beging treatment immediately, she would die. She had 4 children and a Husband that needed her.
Sadly, she had the abortion, began treatment and she died 9 weeks later.
There is no answer that I could come up with for this kind of tragedy.
