vetoed legislation that would have required voters to show photo identification at the polls and allowed some ballots to be cast before Election Day.

Were both of those issues in the same bill? If I were gov, I'd sign half of it.

Unfortunately early voting is on the table here. Unbelievable. I just wrote my Senator on facebook to find out what is going to be done.

Yes. Photo ID and Early Voting are part of the bill which Gov. Nixon vetoed, and part of the bill which passed and allows for voting on a constitutional amendment to allow both of those provisions.

Nixon vetoed the bill putting them into place immediately, and I don't disagree with him. While I agree with photo ID, I do not like the idea that people can vote up to 11 days early. What would prevent someone [read "dishonest Democrat"] from voting in different precincts with picture A on day 11 before Election Day, with picture B on day 7 before Election Day, with picture C on day 4 before Election Day, and picture D on Election Day? Four votes, all with photo IDs!

IMO, the governor's veto of this bill was a good thing.

The proposed constitutional amendment can still be approved (I don't think the actual date it will appear on the ballot has been announced yet), with two bills - one for photo ID and one for early voting - introduced and passed by the General Assembly later, in conjunction with the newly-passed amendment (assuming it passes).
