Were both of those issues in the same bill?

Yes. Photo ID and Early Voting are part of the bill which Gov. Nixon vetoed, and part of the bill which passed and allows for voting on a constitutional amendment to allow both of those provisions.

Nixon vetoed the bill putting them into place immediately, and I don't disagree with him. While I agree with photo ID, I do not like the idea that people can vote up to 11 days early. What would prevent someone [read "dishonest Democrat"] from voting in different precincts with picture A on day 11 before Election Day, with picture B on day 7 before Election Day, with picture C on day 4 before Election Day, and picture D on Election Day? Four votes, all with photo IDs!

IMO, the governor's veto of this bill was a good thing.

The proposed constitutional amendment can still be approved (I don't think the actual date it will appear on the ballot has been announced yet), with two bills - one for photo ID and one for early voting - introduced and passed by the General Assembly later, in conjunction with the newly-passed amendment (assuming it passes).

Quoth silverleaf: Also, ID will no longer be required to ...

Does this mean I don’t have to show ID to get OTC cold medication? (sarcasm)

In Mississippi the Secretary of State said fraudulent votes accounted for 5 to 6% of the vote total. This makes my vote worth .95% thereby disenfranchising me.

While working on the petition drive to get VOTER ID on the 2011 ballot ( which was successful )I read a paper from a law school in NY, I think it was NYU and they were against VOTER ID, they concluded that “FRAUD ONLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN THE CLOSE ELECTIONS ANYWAY” which I believe proves my point that we should have VOTER ID.

Peet...I think every state is infected with corruption. And if it has an urban jungle...that is where the heart of it is. (imo)

Disgusting about Mass...just shows how deeply the roots of corruption are.

You are probably a responsible, taxpaying citizen. Your vote doesn’t count. Quitcherbitchin’, shutup, pay up, and as Bogie said “You’ll take it and like it” as he slapped Peter Lorrie(sp)across the face.
