Tip of the 'Gunwalker' iceberg? Are there MORE 'Operations Fast and Furious'?
St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 17 June, 2011 | Kurt Hofmann

Posted on 06/18/2011 7:50:08 AM PDT by marktwain

During Wednesday's House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing exploring the tragic, utterly unforgivable tragedies of "Project Gunwalker," it would have been easy to miss one short statement from one of the witnesses. This would be a mistake, because what Special Agent John Dodson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) said in that one sentence could have some pretty dramatic implications. Dodson, readers will remember, was the first brave whistleblower to publicly come forward with the sordid details of "Project Gunwalker."

As a witness at Wednesday's hearing, Dodson was asked by Congressman James Lankford (R-OK) to estimate the number of firearms "lost" in the operation (video also available in the sidebar):

Lankford: Special Agent Dodson, let me ask you a series of questions, and this will be for several agents. Give me your best guess, and it's going to be just a guess on this. How many weapons do we have in the United States or in Mexico, that are out there, that are a result of "Fast and Furious," that we do not know where they are?

Dodson: Well sir, my best guess estimate at that, and remembering that Fast and Furious was one case, from one group, in one field division.

He went on with numbers, of course (2,500 that BATFE facilitated the trafficking of, with from 300 to 800 since recovered), but today let's look at how Special Agent Dodson qualifiied those numbers: "Fast and Furious was one case, from one group, in one field division." The implication is, of course, that there could be other "Operations Fast and Furious," doing their own "gunwalking."

So, are Grassley and Issa investigating those other places? We know that a gun shop in Texas has given testimony that it was directed by ATF agents to sell guns to suspected straw purchasers.

Uh-oh. And this was not coordinated from HQ? Approved at the top?

It all just "happened?" Rogue SACs everywhere?

Would not surprise me one bit to discover that they were “tracking” gun sales to radical jihadi groups in the USA. This administration is THAT evil and stupid.

I had been under the impression that the firearms which were 'walked" were from Texas, somehow. If this is just one group, and there are others, the operation needs to be peeled wide open.

Especially in light of the "under the radar" work the administration has been doing on gun control.

It appears that if the data do not fit the model (in the gunwalker case, the model of US firearms being used by the Cartels having been obtained through 'legal' purchases in the US), then the data will be created.

This may be a huge conspiracy by public officials to deny Americans their Civil Right to keep and bear arms. If so, heads need to roll, and people need to be serving jail time over this.

More than that, this is negligent homocide....perhaps hundreds of counts of negligent homocide can be leveled at BATFE, DOJ, etc.

That is EXACTLY what it was/is and that is why, once Melson's resignation goes through, this will all just dry up and blow away.

Either negligent homicide or accessory to homicide. And accessory to all of the crimes committed along the way.

I just don't see an acting head not checking with people up the food chain over an operation of this nature--if the orders did not come from up the food chain in the first place.

That MUST be pursued or more of the same will happen, just better hidden.

Sez who?...Us?....We're just the lunatic fringe to these Alpha Hotels. THEY, after all, are our elected leaders and we must trust them to do what is right and good for the nation.

Now just get with the program, serf!

And not just all rogue, but rogue in exactly the same way! Must be some kind of hypnotic chemical agent that was accidentally distributed to all of them when it contaminated all their paychecks. [facepalm]

Obama is a firm believer in the right to bear arms....only for terrorist’s or criminals! I hate to tell you this Folks, but this is exactly what Governments do when they want to take down a country. You give weapons to state sponsored terrorist groups or any other criminal organizations and willing participants. Some well known examples of this are state sponsored arming and training of: Al CIADA in the war against the Soviets, Northern Alliance in the current Afghanistan war, Son’s of Liberty in the war in Iraq, Al CIADA in the current war in Libya, Project Gunrunner in the current war in the USA against American Sovereignty and Constitutional liberties.

We the People are going to need to deal with the fact our government is slowly turning upon ourselves.

We need more congressional representation to control this.

I agree. I think this whole explanation of tracking the guns is a smoke screen. I think this administration is purposely arming alien thugs for the uprising they are planning. They are sure to lose the upcoming election, even with massive voter fraud, so they need a reason to declare martial law and cancel the election.

I agree. We are heading for bad times.

The gathering pace of the insults and worries the news brings us has changed - from the drip, drip, drip of hints of sedition, to a vast torrent of brazen evidence.

Them versus us. Get ready, folks.

Do you "really" doubt that the above is true?? IMO, this whole thing was set up to generate the necessary data to justify some kind of treaty-based approach to gun control, as a means of circumventing the recent Supreme Court ruling on the existence of an individual RKBA.
