The simple answer is that Face Book has a problem. A more complex answer is that people facing bankruptcy or home foreclosure are cutting their expenses to the bone ~ which includes NO CABLE TV, NO HIGHSPEED INTERNET, NO LANDLINE TELEPHONE ~ just the basics ~ a cheap cellphone deal from WalMart.

I don't see any room for hooking up Face Book in that.

Facebook is free. I think that is what you meant.

I keep a budget. Along with the budget, I have flagged items to give up if money becomes short. One of the last things I intend to give up is cable TV and High speed internet.

The reason is because there is too much value for the dollars spent.

With Netflik we have all the movies we want to watch. With Facebook, we replace the post office and long distance calls to keep up with family. With the internet we can seek out deals and coupons much better than newspapers could ever do.

But then that is just me.

I suspect the reason facebook has peaked is as someone else mentioned, everyone interested in joining has joined.

People may be cutting costs elsewhere but I doubt too many are canceling internet service to save money. Like cellphones, internet service in modern life has pretty much moved from a luxury to a necessity.

This goes without saying there are undoubtedly many people who have had their service disconnected due to their inability to make payments, just as people have had their utilities turned off and cars repossessed.
