The Great Palin E-mail Hunt
Townhall.com ^ | June 18, 2011 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 06/18/2011 5:04:06 AM PDT by Kaslin

Because I am a simple man, allow me to pose a simple question: What the deuce were 30 reporters doing in Juneau last week sifting through 24,000 pages of e-mails written by then Gov. Sarah Palin? Why did a bunch of news agencies spend money to send their people north to Alaska after the state government released the correspondence?

Maybe they want to know more about oil shale on the North Slope. Perhaps fishing off the coast of Nome interests them. Could it be urban renewal in Skagway?

Sure. We all know the reason why the media barbarians descended on Juneau. They wanted to find something on Palin. As Don Henley once sang: "Give us dirty laundry!"

And not only did the reporters go on location, but incredibly, both The New York Times and The Washington Post asked for unpaid volunteers to read some of the e-mails with the hope of finding something, anything, on Palin. So I guess this is the journalism of the future: "Hey, you, can you research this story for me? I have to go to dinner."

After all that, here is what The Washington Post came up with: "The e-mails provide a revealing look at an ambitious rookie politician finding her way in the corridor of power." If that's not Pulitzer stuff, I don't know what is.

Here's The New York Times' assessment: "Yet what is clear in the 24,000 pages of her e-mails ... is that her governing style was not necessarily an either-or proposition. Sometimes she seemed to be everything all at once." Really? Fascinating.

Like Casey, the media struck out. The laundry was clean and neatly folded.

The Palin e-mail exposition is the best example of a political witch-hunt that I have ever seen. Did the media demand to see Sen. Obama's correspondence while in office? How about Gov. Mitt Romney's e-mail experience? No, they did not.

A fair-minded person has to wonder what it is about Palin that makes the press so aggressive toward her. Putting aside her conservative ideology, which makes many media people ill, I think it's her glamour. The governor is good-looking and feisty. She commands attention by her very appearance.

In our shallow, reality-show driven society, Palin has become a star not because of her public service, but because of her movie star-like marketing. There she is in the Alaskan woods looking great on camera. Here she comes in a new film touting her love for America. Move over, Jennifer Aniston. There's a new friend in town: Sarah Palin.

In the end, the media's obsession with Palin actually helps her. Americans know when a person is being persecuted. Like her or not, Palin does not deserve the level of scrutiny being foisted upon her and her family. She's just a politician, people, not Kim Kardashian.

The Koolaid drinkers just KNOW there is “something” somewhere!! The first response was “IT” had to be in the 2,000 emails that were not released. They’ll keep working on it.

Someone, somewhere made the comment this was the equivalent to “electronic panty sniffing”. I agree.

“Like her or not, Palin does not deserve the level of scrutiny being foisted upon her and her family.”

I have not been a Palin for President poster and have stated those reasons. I have had several dust ups with the Palinista crowd in here. With that as a backdrop, I have to say that this particular episode will go down as one of the most idiotic and transparently biased missions that the MSM has ever tried to pull. This kind of scrutiny aimed at a person who isn’t an elected or declared politician is simply vile.

If ONE reporter tries this with Obama’s college records, the ‘usual suspects’ (Matthews, L. O’Donnell, Bahar and the hags, etc) would turn that reporter into a Klan member overnight.

It was reported that they want to go after her private e-mails. As if those are anyone’s business

Why wait for 2016? For 2012, I’d like to see a “Palin/West” ticket. That would be amazing!

What a load of crap. Palin has been the target of an unprecedented witch hunt since being announced as the Vice Presidential candidate in 2008. She has been the leading voice against Obama, in some instances the only one daring to criticize he and his parties policies (remember the Death Panels?). To suggest the ongoing Media attacks and Palin's popularity are because of her glamour and appearance and some sort of "movie star-like marketing" is a disgustingly sexist, stupid statement. O'Reilly, here's a "no spin" statement to you....You're an idiot.

Because Col West has said he is not interested in running and wants to do his job first, for which he was hired.

Now if Sarah Palin decides to run and is nominated and chooses Col West as her running mate and he accepts, that would be a plus. Otherwise it's just a dream

30 reporters...in Juneau last week sifting through 24,000 pages of e-mails...

And after they were done, they went to Columbia to check out Barak Obama's records and background. /s

The issue over her as a Presidential candidate stirs a lot of emotion. But I must say that as a person, she is exceptional. I don’t know many people who could withstand the attacks that she and her family have had to endure. Some may say they have opened themselves up to it. The same could be said about any public figure.
The media hounds looked tremendously stupid hauling these emails out of Alaska with the same ferver as they did when the SCOTUS ruled on the Bush-Gore race. The two incidents were not even close as ‘newsworthy’ events. The critical story, IMO, was the idiots lining up to get the emails. Sadly, most Americans won’t even get this even though it was as subtle as a bull in a china shop.

Move over, Jennifer Aniston. There's a new friend in town: Sarah Palin.

Government will be different under Sarah - something the commies and rino's don't want.

Looks are NOT a threat to commies and rino's...Palin has become a star not because of her public service, but because of her movie star-like marketing.

What a dumba** comment that is. The world stops when Sarah speaks because of her looks? Millions support her because of her looks? LOL! The author is a wackjob!

She is America's Patriot - who will bring America back to where she belongs - under the hand of 'We the People'. She is elitist's and commies worst nightmare.

would turn that reporter into a Klan member overnight.

And probably be audited. They are doing this to Sarah because she is the REAL threat - no holes barred - the commies and rino's have too much at stake.

She owes no one anything and cannot be controlled - and they can't find anything to control her with.

She's a "We the People' Patriot on the loose with intents on bringing America back to the people.

Mr Baxter has show some grudging respect for Gov Palin but he is still very ticked off at her. She had the unmitigated gall of asking him to please not interrupt her answers while she was appearing on his Baxter Factor. NO ONE tells Ted to zip it. His massive ego is still badly bruised as evidenced by the fact that although this happened some time ago, Sarah has not appeared again.

Not only is The One’s LFBC a forgery...see Birther Reports Obama Release Your Records...but his social security number was issued in a state he’d never been to.

If just one of those thirty reporters were to get on this...who knows?...it would likely be the biggest political scandal since Watergate.

Just one honest reporter (oxymoron alert).
