The first turnings toward apostasy are the most egregious, not the headlong wallowing in it. Yes, the open, unrepentant embrace of homosexuality by the Episcopal Church is damnable, but is merely the outworking of a much earlier sin of courting heresy that seemed utterly innocent in perspective.
