Weiner sits on $1 million pension, offered ‘Hustler’ job

Democrat Anthony Weiner's immediate future may be uncertain, but thanks to congressional rules and the salaciousness of his scandal, things are already looking up for the disgraced New York congressman.

Upon his official resignation in the wake of a monthlong scandal involving Weiner's risque online communications with multiple women, Weiner will still be eligible for many congressional perks, including access to a sizable pension fund. (House staff have yet to announce they've actually received his resignation letter.)

The conservative National Taxpayers Union (NTU) estimates the 46-year-old congressman's pension to be worth $1.28 million if he retires at age 62 or $1.12 million at age 56. The group's computations assume that Weiner started his pension when he served as a congressional staffer for Sen. Chuck Schumer.

In addition, NTU notes that members also participate in a Thrift Savings Plan, which allows lawmakers to rake in matching contributions from taxpayers. "NTU estimates he may have as much as $216,011.96 in accumulated TSP assets," the organization reported.

It's a rule that all former members, even those convicted of felonies, may receive their pension funds.

That's right--and the plum pension will go out to all members of Congress, even those who opposed the payments in the first place.

"...Weiner's salacious scandal is even attracting some potential employers.

Hustler founder Larry Flynt on Thursday in an open letter offered Weiner an unspecified job at Flynt Management Group, LLC and a 20 percent raise.

offered ‘Hustler’ job

Considering that he was a politician, hustler are his middle name. If the job fits.

LOL!

Who says crime doesn’t pay? :)

If you’re a liberal Democrat, it pays very, very well!

Now pay your taxes - Weiner needs the money. :D

The media must be running this story about Weiner up the pole to see what we think of it.

Why do these congressional “servants” get pensions? They should be the the case study for 401k plans. I am sick of these elitist crooked snots.

Strip him of “his” pension and get rid of all congressional retirement. We can not afford it.

We have been given to believe that Weiner was broke and needed that job to pay his bills. Now you say this guy has a large stock portfolio?
Never had a private sector job in his life and certainly had no idea of Econ 101, and these are the people making our laws????????????
UNREAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a big deal now about how lots of real jobs are being replaced by non-paying internships, many of which are for congressional staff positions.

If Weiner ever worked as an unpayed intern, because he wanted to help out his country sooo much, then maybe he should give back all of the money he ever made in politics.

That way he can show us how much he cares about his constituents.

LTC Lakin lost his pension when he questioned “the won’s” eligibility, yet this creep and convicted congressional felons get to keep theirs. What a plan they have for themselves. I guess they never know which one will get caught, so they protect each other.

Why do these congressional “servants” get pensions?

Because they can vote themselves pay raises and huge pensions. This is even more insidious than the entitlement populace vote those candidates into power that will give them a large welfare payment.
