Blitzer asked Bachmann 5 times if Romney was disqualified re: RomneyCare and she refused to answer.

Just happened, very strange! Wolf Blitzer Interview with Michele Bachmann. Blitzer asked Bachmann 5 times do you agree with Tim Pawlenty that Mitt romney is disqualified from being the Republican nominee for president because he supports mandated healthcare.?

She kept responding that she's against obamacare/mandates. Blitzer tried again to pin down some kind of answer. She evaded the question at every turn, didn't want to touch it and finally a frustrated Blitzer then says, "You obviously don't want to answer the question?"

I know people say that nominees shouldn't attack other nominees yet but if not now, when? because Romney is trying to create the "inevitability" card so that momentum carries him eventually to a plurality of the votes on the primaries.

I do not think it is about any state. It would make much sense for Romney to pick a conservative woman as VP. McCain did it and did much better afterwards, he was even leading in some polls before he self destructed his campaign. Romney knows that most conservatives would never vote for him alone just like most conservatives would not have voted for McCain without Palin. I think if he picked Bachmann it would be about getting conservatives on board and not about any state or region.

Unsure of her motivations: Is it Reagans Commandment, or is she posturing for a Romney Veep slot?

She doesn’t have enough money or star power to beat Romney, esp. with other good conservatives in the race. If Sarah doesn’t enter, we will be stuck with two pukes, period. Bob

It would turn into mud slinging. The media would make sure of it.

I think the GOP should choose their battles and not let the media make the choice.

I would have been perfectly fine if Bachmann had said at least that many voters are concerned or questioned about what Romney did....she did nothing like that

Palin doesn't have my vote and although I understand your approach, the comments on this thread are about Michelle's failure to answer the question and whether that is ok with anyone reading the thread. To deflect the discussion to Palin, IMO, is to avoid the topic at hand.

Gosh. Just think if these politicians had to answer whether or not they think Romney’s gun-banning, his $50 co-pay taxpayer-funded abortions, his unilaterally-imposed sodomy fake marriage, or his homosexualization of the public schools disqualify him.

An honest answer wouldn’t have hurt. SOMEONE must take on this Marxist lite!! Socialized medicine under Romney must be challenged, whether the media asks about it or not. Bob

Another question, having crawled way out on this trash everyone who isn't Palin limb, what are you going to do if Palin does NOT run and goes out and supports someone you all have spent all your time around her trashing?

As a Palin supporter I would have serious questions about her not answering the question Bachmann was asked several times today.
If she does not run and backs someone I'm not comfortable with, I will not support that person.

It's up to Palin to keep my support, Bachmann as my second choice if Palin doesn't run lost that with the Rollins fiasco.
Not wanting to go after Mittens doesn't help my opinion of her.

Bachmann could have easily have stated something like this:

“However, even on a state level and even a local level, mandates coming from a governing body, it’s tough for a lot of us independent Americans to accept, because we have great faith in the private sectors and our own families … and our own businessmen and women making decisions for ourselves. Not any level of government telling us what to do.”

Perfectly correct and politically viable answers include....

1) That is for the GOP primary voters to decide.
2) The people of Mass wanted this, but I think it is undesirable and Unconstitutional at the federal level.
3) My focus at this point in the primaries is not to tear down the GOP, but to put forth my own vision for the American people.
4) I think it will damage Mitt Romney politically because of the man he would be running against.
5) I don't think it is much of an issue - as States are supposed to be a proving grounds to try ideas, and when it is no longer popular in Mass they will drop it.

What is not a politically viable answer is a five time non answer. You need to be a chatty Cathy - the string is pulled and SOMETHING comes out of your mouth. Saying you are not going to answer doesn't look Presidential - unless you are talking about a few less savory Presidents.

And what is with the Big Bad Wolfie asking it FIVE times? If a Fox journalist asked their guy the same question FIVE times they would say it was disrespectful.

All of them are positioning for the VP nomination. They don’t want another sound byte like Bush had in 1980: “Voodoo economics.”

But, Bush was selected for for VP!

She could have said a lot of good and teachable things about the folly of RomneyCare, but refused.

Something's fishy here.

I have been 100% supportive of her on this forum until yesterday. I'm beginning to not trust her now. The theory that she is a stalking horse for Rove and Romney has its first smoking gun.

This might reveal her real goal, a VP nomination.

That's what I'm starting to think, because, as a conservative, she should be highly motivated to criticize the mandated absurdity that is Romneycare.

If Michelle can't criticize Romneycare now, then what else is on the "taboo" list? What about criticizing Romney's hostility to the Second Amendment?

Mrs. Bachmann needs to stop dodging this Romneycare question: it's already becoming a distraction to her potential fans and followers.

If it becomes apparent that she's avoiding criticism of Romney simply because she's gunning for the VP spot, then I will lose interest in her campaign very quickly...
