I disagree with some of what you have to say. A $500,000 debt that reeks of quid pro quo is not the sort of baggage that one wants in a Presidential candidate. I do make a decision about a person, especially a person with money and unlimited choices, when his/her appearance draws ridicule. Donald Trump’s hair is one such instance. The creepy finished product Callista Gingrich is showing the world is another.

What a shame. I think it’s WHO a person is that’s important. Although it’s generally correct that a person’s appearance can be an indication, Callista’s appearance is not so unusual so as to merit some of the comments I’ve read. I often suspect that these comments are made without regard to knowing anything else about her. The same goes for Trump. There are MANY men who manipulate their hair in similar ways. Most of the people who know Mr. Trump seem to like him. I want to stress here that there is a good-natured way to poke fun at some of this.....but, we have to realize that it can also very easily go the way of hateful, uncharitable comments. Such comments can reflect poorly on all conservatives.

Are you saying that purchasing something expensive is to frowned upon?

I think most of us are tired of politicians who do not live up to the solid conservative principles they claim. However, I think we conservatives need to be aware that the liberals would love to have us all fighting each other over the slightest difference of opinion....and they ARE working to divide us. We need to be careful not to get pulled into this. Additionally, conservatives (I would HOPE) will rise above some of the rather nasty ad hominem that that has become the brand of liberals. We should demonstrate a more virtuous type of dialogue. This doesn’t mean that we can’t have some fun with candidates who do silly or hateful things. It means that we should not indiscriminately tear down those with whom we disagree in a very non-humorous manner that is basically simply hateful.
I like to think that we conservatives are better than that. ;-)
