Original title: 'Weiner WILL bounce back': Obama says ex-congressman can return after shamed politician quits with grovelling apology to his pregnant wife
-----------------------------
President Obama threw Anthony Weiner a life line this morning as the disgraced politician faced the task of rebuilding his career and marriage in the wake of his resignation yesterday.

The President spoke about the ex-congressman on Good Morning America and said: 'I wish Rep. Weiner and his lovely wife well. 'Obviously, it's been a tough incident for him, but I'm confident that they'll refocus and he'll refocus, and they'll end up being able to bounce back.'

Washington pundits have already started to speculate about what Weiner will do now that he is out of office, with many suggesting that he is already planning a come back.

One bizarre theory even suggest that he will run in the special election - expected in early Fall - when the scandal has died down. During his departing speech, he hinted to the fact he was already planning his next move and that he was leaving the door open for a comeback.

In a tone that was more down-but-not-out than banished politician, he told the crowd in the same building where he launched his political career almost 20 years ago: 'I got into politics to help give voice to the many who simply didn't have one. Now I'll be looking for other ways to contribute my talents to make sure that we live up to that most New York and American of ideals.

Undoubtedly he will be a frequent guest on MSNBC, maybe he’ll get his own show to compete with CNN’s Spitzer.

I figure that Hillary! promised Huma that if Weiner resigned now, the Clintons will help rehabilitate him within a year or two. The Dems don't care about sleaze. They only care about power.

Why did they make such a big 'pretense' call for him to resign if he's so okay with them?

All this is - a phony pretense that they have some decency - but they already are planning a future career for him!!

Accepting what he is & what they are by letting him stay in office would have shown more integrity.

If he was more corrupt, he would be qualified to be Mayor of Washington D.C.

Mr. Weiner, can I call you Dick? Dick.

Advice: Don’t be a Dick, Dick.

Just the thought of a “bouncing Weiner” is enough to make you relish his current demise. We can hope that he goes straight but his limp attempts to defend himself show that he is not on a roll to anything significant right now.

As one FRer said, he seems to have petered out, at least until the Democrats arrange for him to rise again from the dead.
