Weiner, and his apologists, disrespect women. First, they excuse his bad behavior and then, some even shift blame to the women.
The fact that not only are some accepting his behavior (let alone the lies) without even a blink, but supporting Weiner, shows they aren't seeing beyond what has been the sensational aspects. Whether it is the sensational aspect of his illicit behavior, or the sensational reaction from a disapproving public...no one seems to realize how he has shown that his beliefs about women are back in the era of "keep them dumb, pregnant, and barefoot," or back further to the days of the cave man.
Sometimes I think that is why he chose Huma as his wife. Although she seems to be worldly and to have become "Westernized" and does not observe her Muslim traditions when it comes to dress (no burkas, etc.), choice of a non-Muslim husband (let alone one of Jewish culture), she probably still accepts a subservient position as trained to do and common in the Islamic practices. Obviously Weiner figured he needed someone who was raised to be a subservient, adoring type wife so Huma would certainly be one who could fill that need of his. It is a pattern with narcissistic men to marry a woman who they feel will not be a challenge to their position, and who they can keep separate in their minds from the women with whom they dally.
To narcissistic men who are sexually perverted, the wife is the woman they consider "pure" and is merely for show...to prove they are upstanding, righteous, moral men so no one would ever even begin to think that underneath the facade of a decent man and good marriage partner, is a lurking sexual predator who considers himself free to satisfy his illicit desires as if they have no impact on his wife or marriage. Huma is Weiner's "cover" and I really feel sorry for her.
