San Francisco's ever-active Animal Control and Welfare Commission has renewed its push for a pet sale ban in the city - only this time, it even covers goldfish.
The idea is to put the squeeze on puppy and kitten mills that supply pet stores, and to discourage "impulse buys" of hamsters and other small pets that often wind up being dumped at shelters.
But goldfish, guppies and tropical fish?

Being a Californian (for the time being), I know the insanity factor would be diminished considerably if California could get rid of San Francisco. But, that’s only a start.
I never thought I would live to see a black market for light bulbs and goldfish!
A little-known provision of this bill is that penalties will be tripled if the goldfish are found to be circumcised.
Hamsters and other pet rodents live how long? Two or three years? I find it hard to believe abandoned hamsters is a problem.
My photo would be up on a SF post office if they ever saw my 250 gal salt water reef aquarium.

So by extension, I guess you think that Jim Rob and the rest of us Conservatives who happen to live in this beautiful State of California are insane. Please, if you are going to make moronic statements go over to the DU. California is a wonderful place despite our current problem with RATS, which, over time will be corrected. I notice you don’t go after NY, MA, CT,RI in your rant. Why not? They are probably more problematic than California is. Personally, I’m getting really pissed off at types like you, who probably live in a state that is at least as big a sheist hole as is California, smuggly continue to call for our “sale to Mexico.” Why don’t you try to do something positive?

Not for long. Under court order, they are about to release a whole lot of inmates who were supposed to serve a lot more time.
