Standoff at U.N. Shows How Expanded Security Council Could Operate Against U.S. Interests

(CNSNews.com) – A European-led initiative to secure U.N. Security Council condemnation of Syria is faltering, as opposition from Russia and China is bolstered by the stance of three emerging powers that want permanent seats on the Security Council.

Brazil, India and South Africa are not convinced of the need for a resolution censuring Syria’s violent suppression of anti-government protests, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe told parliament in Paris on Tuesday.

To pass, a resolution needs nine votes in the 15-member council. A “no” vote from any of the permanent members (the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China) would also kill the measure.

Why do we keep funding the UN? Cut off their money and get someone tough as UN ambassador to use our Security Council veto on a daily basis. Obama’s UN policy is as weak as all of his foreign policies.

A review of UN funding by the O.M.B. requested by Senator Tom Coburn detailed that the following federal agencies: Dept’s of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Energy, Homeland Security, Interior, Justice, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury,EPA, NASA and others funnelled $5.3 BILLION just in 2006 to the UN.

If they don’t care about a bunch of Syrians being slaughtered, I really doubt they care about the “plight of the Palestinians”.

The UN has become a joke. It is a useless, bureaucratic talking shop which will simply be used by the rogue nations of the world to protect their interests.

India throwing in with the russkies chicoms and iranians. Ive warned people on here about trusting them only to get hammered. Yes they aren’t as bad as china but the are nothing like the US.
