I’m not in Texas and know very little of Gov Perry - he simply hasn’t been on my radar for any reason until recently.

Anyway, 2 minutes of google somewhat clarified, at least for me, what the slander is about. Apparently this rumor dates back to early 2004. It seems to have begun about the same time Perry signed the Texas Defense of Marriage Act, which, naturally, p.o.’d some very shrill activists. At one point, the Austin Chronicle (hardly a conservative source) published an article saying that they had investigated the matter thoroughly and pride themselves on their ability to tap into anonymous sources. They said that they found “not one scintilla” of evidence that the rumor was true.

Also interesting to note that the rumor was mostly spread via internet, and from sources such as Daily KOS.

Someone continuing to use FR to spread this 7-year-old, apparently debunked, slander about Gov Perry is shameful.
