Romney, Bachmann dominate gracious GOP debate

Mitt Romney easily survived his first debate of the 2012 primary with barely a nick to his early frontrunner status.

Tarred as a flip-flopping phony during his 2008 White House bid, Romney looked at ease during the two-hour live forum, and none of his lesser-known rivals made him squirm. Eager to make pleasing first impressions on a national audience, they all passed when handed opportunities to attack Romney.

A picture of the former Massachusetts governor and corporate executive in an open-collared shirt and tie -- posted on Twitter just minutes before the debate in an obvious attempt at campaign image-making -- rang true.

((snip))

The best moment for Cain, the only candidate who has never served in public office, was when he gleefully proclaimed at the start of the debate, "I am not a politician."

Yes. I read ‘gracious’ to mean ‘innocuous’.

California Governor Ronald Reagan said: The personal attacks against me during the primary finally became so heavy that the state Republican chairman, Gaylord Parkinson, postulated what he called the Eleventh Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican. It's a rule I followed during that campaign and have ever since.

Mitt would be a good Secretary of Dogcatchers in a Palin or Bachmann administration.

He did look bad physically. You may be right on the cameras being used. He looked old and kinda gaunt. Kind of burned out. I was surprised by it.

He’s a phony alright. But he’s also an unapologetic liberal who to this day defends Massachusetts’ socialized medicine bill as if it has been a success.

Let me tell you something.

I hear that Effing Grunting sound again on CNN and I turn the channel.

WTF was that?

I wouldn’t trust him with my dog and I don’t even like my dog. That’s okay though ‘cause he doesn’t like me either.

I think he should be launched with all appropriate fanfare and dignity as the first US ambassador to Kolob.

And a while from now, no one will remember a thing about this ‘debate.’ When Palin announces, all of this will be meaningless.

Smart move on her part to wait a while. The longer she waits, the more also-rans will eliminate each other, leaving the public a far easier ‘defined’ choice. I don’t doubt that the MSMlibs will push Romney and I hope they do. Remember, they push him because he is the easiest Repub for a Dem to beat. Why wouldn’t he be? he shares all their views, so Dems will vote for the incumbent that already has them rather than switch; and many on the right won’t vote for him anyway.

But SP presents the polar opposite of MR. After 2+ years of attacks that have only made her stronger and as the ‘real’ debates draw nearer, Romney will go farther left to recoup votes lost from the ‘moderates’ who are even now warming to SP thanks to Dem scandals and over-reach, making the choice even clearer.

If You Could Hie To Kolob

Right in the middle of a very mainstream looking religion you get something that sounds like it's out of Isaac Asimov's science fiction novels. R2D2 anybody?

Reagan followed this “commandment” during the first five primaries during the 1976 Republican primary against incumbent Gerald Ford, all of which he lost. He abandoned this approach in the North Carolina Primary and beat Ford 52-46, regaining momentum and winning a majority of delegates chosen after that date. Some analysts credit Reagan’s attacks as seriously weakening Ford in his contest with his successor, Jimmy Carter.[1]

The Pubs seem to have been whipped by the MSM into thinking they have to be polite. It gets them nowhere.
I’m not sure I was impressed by anyone tonight. Although I must admit I don’t watch CNN and was impressed with the mod.

Great. Now we are at their first break and I heard the grunting again during Cain’s time.

F em.

I’m done.

Like trying to enjoy dinner while the dolt next to you eats with his mouth open and you realize your dogs don’t make that kind of noise.

Romney's been a two-faced, unprincipled flip-flopper on issues since the early 90’s. Ran as a liberal in 1994 and 2002. Rejected Reaganism and the Contract With America along the way.

Since 2007 been peddling himself as a conservative. Hasn't worked yet and never will. Kick this rino to the curb!

I didn’t watch it. None of them impress me to give them my time. But glad others - to hear their take on it.
