State Rep. Mark Cusack continued Monday to dodge questions about an alleged tryst he had with a legislative aide in the House chamber.

Cusack, 26, a Braintree Democrat who has been a legislator for six months, is under investigation by the office of House Speaker Robert DeLeo for allegedly engaging in “inappropriate actions” with a female staffer in the House chamber after a late-night budget session. Cusack allegedly lied, identifying himself as an another legislator when he and the woman were discovered by a court officer in the chamber after hours.

“If that is true, I am sure Mark will be telling the truth from now on, as the speaker’s office does an investigation,” said Town Councilor John C. Mullaney, the only Braintree official so far to come to Cusack’s defense.

Cusack has not spoken to the media since the news surfaced Friday and did not return several calls for comment Sunday and today.

A half dozen legislators from both parties who represent South Shore towns didn’t return calls for comment during the weekend.

DeLeo’s office issued a one-line statement, saying, “The House will conduct an internal review of this matter.” In Cusack’s district, which includes all of Braintree and one precinct in both Holbrook and Randolph, public officials are also keeping mum. Braintree Town Council President Charles B. Ryan and Town Councilor Charles C. Kokoros declined to comment. Town Councilor Dan Clifford, whom Cusack beat in the November election for the House seat, did not return a call for comment.

Cusack and the aide, who works for another lawmaker, allegedly were discovered by a court officer in the otherwise empty chamber last month.

Is he married? Was the skirt married? If the answer is no, I have no problem with it. 'Course, the clean-up crew might, but that's an area I'd rather not explore.

Capitol Hill is in DC. Beacon Hill is in Boston.

I think Howie was saying this guy still lives with parents and someone mentioned a Will Ferrell movie where he plays a loser and invites a friend over to his basement room and asks the friend if he’d like some meatloaf. “MA! CAN YOU BRING US SOME MEATLOAF?”, he calls upstairs.

I’m listening to an audiobook about Rush Limbaugh, “An Army of One”, and it’s mentioned at one point he’s in his late 20s or his 30s and, with not much going on career-wise, he moves back in with his family for half a year or so. Rush a “loser”? Well, at least he eventually became a huge success.
This guy...? Hmm. (The book also quotes someone saying of Rush that he’s “like a bag of s-—, minus the bag” in his early days, which is right up there, judgement-wise, with
John Lennon’s mom or aunt saying “The guitar is alright John, but you’ll never make a living out of it.”)

A Ch 5 newscaster accidentally called him “John Cusack” (actor, brother of actress Joan Cusack). Note that he gave fake name Mickey Collins—name of another legislator? Maybe or maybe not; I note that name has his same initials. It would be like Howie caught in that situation (if he were a state rep. etc.) and giving his name as “Harold Connelly” or something.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: I don’t care what two consulting adults do, especially with their cloths on. The court officer should have made a throat clearing sound and mumbled something to the effect, “Get a room”. Which in Crusak’s case would have been in his grandma’s basement.

I don’t understand people who think this behavior is “ok”. Really? If one or both are married one or both are committing adultry - regardless of their marital status this type of behavior is unacceptable and both of these people should be fired immediately.

After Kennedy, it was only a matter of time before the other Irish Catholics of Massachusetts discovered sex for themselves. That is, those not in Holy Orders.

This does not bode well for the motel housekeeping people in Maine.
