“So you’re going to cut every Social Security check to every recipient by 25%?”
No, but I would cut the social security administrations operating budget by 25%, minus payroll.
Could cut every operating budget by 25% minus payroll. Could have every government employee kick in another 1-2% for retirement and medical.
Could take redundant departments, consolidate them, keep the people on payroll, but cut the operating budgets by 25%. Jobs that are replicated can be cut by attrition and early retirement.
Can review all government contracts valued at over $1,000,000 and renegotiate based on usefulness of the contract. In other words, the original purpose of the contract has been fulfilled, but. someone is still getting paid.
Actually, we can have all these contracts, minus ones for national security, put online and the people can determine what should be cut. This also includes all the operating budgets.
It is obvious the government cannot do this on their own. Give accounting majors 3 college credits for doing the audit.
If wikileaks can put thousands of pages of national security material on the Internet with nary a peep by the administration, our national budget, which is owned by the people can be put online.
And I thought this was Issa’s job.
As for the rest of you comments, maybe that will get as much as 10% savings. Maybe. So what are you going to do to get the other 15%?
If this was easy it would already have been done.
