He was fairly persuasive about Israel on television especially since the press loved him. He was a barrier in not letting them go too far in dissing Israel and now he’s gone. That only leaves Schumer and Lieberman to buffer the NY media. They tried to dump Lieberman in the past which is why he went Independent. That leaves Schumer who isn’t quite as vocal as Weiner.

I believe Weiner is a narcissist, narcissists interact socially with others but they don’t form relational social bonds which matches Weiner and explains why there’s few supporting him. Narcissists don’t like being ‘owned’ therefore the they reduce all of those around them as non-human objects and this basically describes the marxist. I honestly doubt that there could be much love between Tony and his wife but they will stay together as it’s a cover for more deviant practices. I apply the same to Bill and Hillary, Obama and Michelle among others both in and out of congress. They’re followers of the “bluebloods” - “the upper class” - the Fabian Society, Bloomsbury Group, Cambridge Apostles, and so on...check out the background of the people who founded them. I still don’t think Weiner was an effective advocate for Israel.
Maybe if he got some booty off it, like he did his irrational health care rants. The difference is, with Israel he was in the right, and it’s a lot harder for a sociopath to convince someone of the G-d given truth than it is to be a maniacal liar.
Not to be an ingrate, but outspoken as Weiner was, he never applied the same passion to the topic of Israel.
