Video: City Government demands all keys to properties belonging to Cedar Falls residents

City Government demands all keys to properties belonging to Cedar Falls residents.

Ordinance #2740(An unfunded city-wide mandate) was passed with a resounding 6 to 1 vote, and it allows for the citizens of Cedar Falls to forcefully give the government keys to their comercial properties through universal 'lock boxes'.

The intent of the program is to provide increased safety and protection to personal, private property which include businesses, apartments and some rental houses-- which by the way-- comes at the expense of furthering wayward erosion of fundamental constitutional rights.

Is it true that vandals have gone around and broke off tooth picks in the locks, and they are disabled? What happens then, and who pays for the lock repair?

Who pays? Hmmmm. Like when the police break down a door? When a tenant breaks a meter box to steal electricity? When neighbors steal your trash cans? Let me guess. Could it be the landlord?

Why would anyone live in a place that has to be outfitted like a prison? “Big, hairy gates”...? Personal safety? The Knox boxes are only as good as the secured control of the master keys.

Get outta there!

About 25 years ago, the town I live in voluntarily gave the local police keys to their businesses under the same pretense....until the top cop was later arrested for pilfering them regularly.

As long as those who have the mortgages are making their payments and paying their taxes, they are the owners.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The landlord is the government. The “owner” is the tenant. If the citizen fails to pay his rent ( property tax), the landlord ( the government) **will** evict him. The landlord ( government) **will** find new tenants ( citizens) to occupy the government’s property by having a sheriff’s auction ( real bullets in those guns on the hip.) If the citizen objects and sufficiently resists the government sheriffs will kill him.

No one in America owns his home or business. Everyone, except the homeless, are renters. Our landlord is the government.

This is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard.
First, how incompetent is ALL government? First, ALL lock boxes will have to have a common key in order for “emergency” personnel to enter the buildings on short notice. Third, just how many minutes after these lock boxes are installed will criminals have a duplicate key made from one that one of the incompetent government employees either failed to secure or simply sold to them?

We (the sheeple) freely trade freedom and our God given rights to protect our own lives and property to the government in exchange for their protection. It’s time to end that forever!

I know this is a stupid question, but which is the most secure, the Lock Box , or the front door.

Whichever is the easiest to get into is where the criminal will strike.

The citizens must have got just what they wanted, they voted for the little dictator socialists that voted for this, or maybe they did not go vote at all.

What state is this?

Our Ruling Elite is going rather far. I wonder if Americans will take it.

Yes our freedom loving Americans will take it, our freedom loving Americans will take anything the socialist dictators hands out in the name of peace and safety, they are the ones who votes the dictators in.

Strange wording (and spelling).

I noticed the same thing.

Here are some typical Knox Boxes. A 24-hour tamper connection to the building alarm system is recommended.

LOL. I was just thinking the same thing. Just go get a key with a random pattern made.

If this is true, don’t give them the keys. If fined, sue, and sue some more.

They can’t do that legally.

I agree.

Don’t talk to them. Treat as if they don’t exist.

Of course they will sue, but who cares?

Same for those they send to enforce this law. No more fireman’s dinner, no more local police dances. Just say no.

“As long as those who have the mortgages are making their payments and paying their taxes, they are the owners.”

Everything you both said is true, but so is what I said.

Pay your mortgage, taxes, etc. and you are the owner.

Tell you what...If there is a false alarm and you enter my property, you will be deemed a home invader and dealt with as such.
